Get to know your farmer:
Just a little fun behind the scenes fact about our farm: Rosalind grew up in a family with very strong entrepreneurial ties. Her late dad, Terry, was a self employed truck driver and loved to buy, sell, trade cars. He may not have had a college degree but he knew how to make money multiply. He didn’t read “The Art of the Deal,” but, boy, could he make a deal to his benefit.
Terry and Rosalind’s mom,Suzanne (pictured, sitting beside the window), started Horton Graphics, Inc. in a corner of their bedroom. They had a computer, bought a graphic design software and a vinyl cutter. And the business began. Horton Graphics is still very alive and well in Callahan (904.879.4547). They provide all manners of graphic products. Call them. You won’t regret it. Our son, Micah (sitting beside the window), is now working at Horton Graphics and desires to be a graphic designer.
From Terry and Suzanne’s household, Rosalind along with her brother, Mark (front left), and sister, Melody (not pictured) learned the love of business ownership. Mark owns Elite Electric in Callahan (and a host of other businesses…) and Melody owns Lee Family Farmstead and Grace & Grain Design Company.
Rosalind (front right) married Chris (AKA Farmer Chris) in 2006. Since 2006, Rosalind and Chris have owned a range of successful businesses. Screenprinting, photography, consulting, accounting/tax services, and now, a farm.
What’s the point to all of this? Relationships. The point is relationships. The relationships you form matter and can influence a family for generations. The things you value matter. Teaching hard work and thinking outside the box matters. It literally can create a whole mindset for generations.
And that’s why we prefer to form relationships with our customers. We hope to change the way you choose your food. We hope to change how you view your food. We hope to encourage you to understand that it’s ok to think outside of the box.
And it’s VERY important to spend your dollars in YOUR community. 🙂
If you’ve read this far, thank you. And, did you know we have fresh pork, eggs and raw milk available? Farm pickups are available until 6 PM today.
