Have you ever seen a houseplant that almost looks like it's glowing? ๐
Purple Passion Plant...
๐ Love it
โค๏ธ Want one
๐ฎ Never seen one before
Not only is it beautiful, but it's also a fast-growing plant that's fun for beginners and experienced plant lovers!
Plant care tips:
๐ Light
Purple Passion Plants love bright, indirect sunlight. A sunny east or west-facing window is often ideal. Too little light can cause the purple color to fade, while intense afternoon sun may scorch the leaves.
๐ง Watering
- Keep the soil slightly moist, but not soggy.
- Water when the top inch of soil feels dry.
- Avoid letting the plant sit in standing water.
- Try not to get water on the fuzzy leaves
๐ชด Potting
A quality indoor potting mix with good drainage works best.
Choose a pot with drainage holes to help prevent root rot. Since Purple Passion Plants grow quickly, you may need to move up one pot size every year or two.
๐ฑ Propagation
One of the easiest houseplants to propagate!
Simply take a healthy stem cutting about 4โ6 inches long, remove the lower leaves, and place it in water or moist potting mix. In a few weeks, you will see new roots begin to develop.
๐ฟ General Care
- Fertilize monthly during spring and summer
- Pinch back growing tips occasionally to encourage a fuller, bushier plant.
- If your plant produces orange flowers, don't be surprised if they have a rather unusual scent. Many growers remove the flowers so the plant can focus its energy on producing more colorful foliage.
๐ Fun Fact: The vibrant purple color isn't actually from the leaves themselvesโit's created by thousands of tiny purple hairs that cover the leaf surface and catch the light.
