❤️ A little update about the Mansion tonight ❤️
Message from the owners (Rhett and Malina):
It seems the rumors spread faster than the fire! Tonight, the Maple Street Mansion was struck by lightning, which caused a fire in the steeple of the Victorian tower turret. We want to take a moment to share the actual facts and update everyone on the situation.
My wife and I were actually parked outside waiting for the storm to subside when we heard a massive lightning strike nearby. We didn't realize it had hit the mansion itself; we just knew it was incredibly close. We even ran inside to shut some lights off and fix a breaker, noticing some flickering but assuming it was just the heavy storm outside.
As we pulled away to head home, we saw fire trucks heading toward the building but didn't think for a second it was our place. It wasn't until we were on the road that several people messaged us saying the mansion was on fire, so we quickly turned around and headed back.
Thankfully, someone saw the fire and called 911 immediately. I cannot say enough how thankful I am that someone noticed it and called right away. It truly could have been so much worse.
I want to personally say THANK YOU to every firefighter, first responder, and emergency personnel who responded tonight. Your quick response, hard work, and dedication made all the difference. You got there incredibly quickly, contained the fire to the steeple, and prevented what could have been a devastating situation from becoming so much worse. We are beyond grateful for each and every one of you. ❤️🚒🙏
As of right now, there is damage to the steeple, turret, and balcony, which will need major repairs. But thankfully, from what we can tell right now, the main floor does not appear to have any damage. Nothing inside The Heirloom Store appears to have been affected by the strike, the fire, or the water. We are looking into potential electrical damage and will investigate everything more thoroughly tomorrow in the daylight.
The Mansion means so much to us, and I know so many of you love it just as much as we do. We would love to see the support of this amazing community as we get things back in order and work to get the exterior repaired. Please come out and show your support! We are even considering creating some signature drinks at the cafe to mark the lightning strike and celebrate surviving the fire.
