The Spalding County Sheriff's Office shared great heartfelt message about Hall County Deputy Dixon’s sacrifice:
“I shared this once before. In the past we would put electrical tape across our badges when an officer lost their life. It’s become so commonplace now that most of us have black elastic bands to put across our badges to mourn an officers death. It seems that we have to do it on a regular basis now. But we as a profession will take the beating we get in the media. We will take the bashing, threats, disrespect, and “Starbuck’s” treatment.
• We will take it, and we will continue to go to work every day.
• We will continue to fight for what is right and lay down our lives for those same people that are scared of us in Starbuck’s, who don’t want to serve us in restaurants, who tell their kids that we will kill them, and on and on.
• We will stand and defend those very same people and put our lives on the line for them and their safety.
• We will continue to be injured and die while fighting for what is right just like Deputy Dixon did this morning.
He didn’t kiss his wife and kids goodbye today and tell them, “I won’t be back tonight. Love ya’ll and I’ll see you again someday.” Yeah, some will say, “You chose the profession, you knew the risks when you put on the badge.” Yeah, take a trip to Hall County and say that to his wife, kids, and brothers and sisters at the Hall County Sheriff’s Office today.
All this, and we will still answer the call when it comes no matter what is said or done. You see, we don’t have the luxury of taking a knee in protest to our deaths. All we have the luxury to do is take a knee in prayer for our country, fellow officers, families, and agencies.”
