We believe accessibility isn’t just something we talk about — it’s something we build together. Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program ( https://www.rdu.com/travel-info/traveling-with-disabilities/ ) at Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) , aligns beautifully with our mission to help older adults with [visible/ hidden] disabilities live fully, safely, and independently with dignity.

Did you know that millions of people navigate life with non-visible conditions like autism, chronic pain, sensory loss, and mental health challenges? RDU’s Sunflower Program offers discreet tools — like sunflower-themed lanyards and pins — that signal the need for extra patience, support, or compassion while traveling. It’s a quiet but powerful way to build a more inclusive experience for guests who often feel overlooked. For those in need, these moments of recognition can ease anxiety and restore confidence in the public space. Next time you're heading to RDU, stop by the information desk in Terminals 1 or 2 for your free sunflower product.

Whether you're supporting someone with such challenges or simply seeking more graceful aging solutions for yourself, we’re here to help every step of the way. Visit us at https://BeyondGrabBars.com

𝐈𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞!

As a considerate host, you want to ensure that your home is welcoming, safe and comfortable for all your visitors, especially visiting seniors with accessibility needs.
One of our clients reached out to us for consultation. His elderly parents were planning to visit in about a month. His mother has lower body muscle weakness and mobility issues and father has low vision. Their increasing disabilities as they have grown older has made them hesitant to visit stay over in the recent years. The good news is that we were able to help them plan and get the modifications done in time. We suggested small inexpensive changes that they could do themselves like decluttering, rearranging furniture, improving lighting and increasing contrast. We modified the lower level powder room to be fully accessible by adding a zero entry shower, sturdy seating and a comfort height toilet with bidet. We also added a ramp in the garage for safe accessible entry.
The client called us to specifically tell us that he could see the impact almost immediately. His parents faces lit up as soon as they saw the ramp and their eyes teared up with joy when they opened the bathroom door. His usually talkative mother had no words to describe her sense of gratitude and love. She just hugged her daughter in law!
When we make our house accessible, we give our guests something far more valuable than physical safety. We give them a sense of independence, love and belonging.

Is your house accessible and safe for all your visitors?

We recently completed a life-altering bathroom transformation for a client with lower body disabilities who was struggling with their traditional tub-shower setup. Their daily challenges included:
- Unstable transfers using an over-the-tub sliding seat
- Requiring assistance for everyday shower
- Difficulty reaching and adjusting the showerhead
- Limited access to toiletries
- Concerns about cleaning and maintenance

Our solution? A fully accessible zero-entry roll-in shower featuring:
✅ Durable composite stone walls and flooring
✅ Strategically placed grab bars for independent transfers
✅ Heavy-duty 1000lb capacity fold-down bench
✅ Dual shower system with rainfall head and adjustable handheld unit
✅ Built-in niche at seated height for easy access to toiletries

The best part? Our client can now shower independently and safely, while the folding bench means family members and guests can use the space too! We prioritized quick completion since this was their primary bathroom, and the easy-to-clean surfaces make maintenance a breeze.

Want to make your bathroom work better for you or your loved one? Let's talk about creating a space that combines safety, accessibility, and style!
