Phase 1 and 2 are done at least šŸ¤£. Clean/prep and paint. I made a custom mix of champagne and a rich, warm gray paint color, Abbey, which is actually what I dry brushed on the top over the stain. Phase 3 will be dark antiquing gel sitting in the lovely details. šŸ˜Š

Watcha think? Another option I tried looked more like an antique silver but it didnā€™t seem quite right. I was looking for something that 1. wouldnā€™t ā€œcompeteā€ with the purple metallics on the molds, 2. wouldnā€™t appear too yellowish with the strong blue undertones in my violet blend, and 3. ā€œbridgeā€ the cool tones in the paint finish to the warmth of the top. I did the molds before I found the hardware so thereā€™ll be an overlap but Iā€™m actually digging it lol.

I love how just that subtle amount of dry brushing can add such depth. Iā€™m a firm believer in layering. Heirloom Traditions gel stain colors Gray Mist and a little Espresso. Dry brushing with HT Abbey. Finishing touches with hardware and waxes coming up.

Look at these beauties I found on EBay! I enjoy refinishing vintage hardware just as much as the furniture piece. Raise your hand if you feel the same! Stay tuned for whatā€™s up next on these cause weā€™re going to make them even more beautiful šŸ˜Š.

And I donā€™t know why but no matter how many times I do this, a little vinegar, hot water, and a toothbrush always astounds me šŸ¤£. Check out that difference just with one quick round yet!

Did you know you can easily paint faux brick? My backsplash was done with Heirloom Traditions products and technique. Simple and fun project! Painted a base of the color Colosseum for the ā€œmortarā€. Then used their Weathered Wood and Whitewash antiquing gels with a mop head to stamp the ā€œbricksā€. I love to take certain style pieces and try to push them another direction. This modern desk was painted with Heirloom Traditions color Haven and I used their Antique White gel stain, thinned with mineral spirits, to give it almost a weathered look and add a nice touch of warmth.

Whatā€™s everybody working on??

Sorry I havenā€™t been posting as much, life is getting in the way a bit right now. But happy to say this piece finally found its forever home this weekend šŸ˜Š. Painted with a blend of Annie Sloan Duck Egg, Svenska Blue, and Old White over a base of French Linen and champagne highlights.

Stay tuned for finishing touches on the violet French Provincial set šŸ˜Š.
