If you're picking colors, this write up is a good primer on the important factors to consider when looking at and deciding on paint colors:

Picking paint colors can be hard. Understanding tones, undertones, overtones, saturation, temperature, etc. is a challenge is you don't know what to look for. This photo is a great example of how color can play tricks on your eyes. Now I'm going to blow your mind. This first photo of the corner above the door is the same color. It's Sherwin Williams Sea Salt, on both walls. The wall that the door is on is on the east side of the home. The other wall is on the south side of the home. Because of the light exposure in the home, this color like many colors can look slightly to very different in different lights. We also did an accent wall in Sherwin Williams Acacia Haze which is in the other photos painted behind the headboard. The client on this job was thrilled with the way this color turned out, but sometimes issues like color variation from wall to wall can be a huge disappointment depending on the color.
But the best advice I can give is this: once you've decided on a few color options, get some samples, put them on some different walls and let the light hit them. That's the best way to avoid unwanted color surprises. Sample twice, paint once!
