We are seeking a talented person with experience in both commercial and residential design. This is a full-time position. Work will be performed primarily on-site in our Wisconsin offices.

Responsibilities: Develop beautiful, sustainable, and
innovative design solutions through all phases of a project, from concept through construction.
Work with multidisciplinary teams in research,
design, selection, and specification. Prepare
drawings, schedules, and specifications to support design and construction. Participate in on-going learning activities and seminars that deepen our understanding of the built world.
Qualifications: 3+ years of architectural design experience, preferably in both commercial and residential design. Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, or equivalent Licensure, NCARB certification preferred but not required. Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision, as well as with a team. Understanding of commercial & residential building codes and regulations. Comfortable managing multiple tasks and projects. Working knowledge of sustainable practices & materials.
Software: Familiarity with both 2D CAD and 3D modeling software (Vectorworks and Sketchup preferred). Knowledge and experience with Revit (preferred, but not required). Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and InDesign (preferred, but not required).

Hitting the market this week, the Frederick C. Bogk House is Frank Lloyd Wright’s only single-family residential project in Milwaukee. Built in 1917, this two story structure reflects the influence of Wright’s Imperial Hotel in Tokyo, including strong vertical and horizontal lines, decorative cast concrete facade elements, and leaded art glass windows.

As committed stewards of the Bogk House, the owners chose TKWA to lead a consultant team to prepare recommendations for repair & preservation. We worked with the Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy to provide an existing condition assessment of the property and to ensure appropriateness of recommended repairs to the interior & exterior.

We're proud to see this beautiful home get the restoration that it deserves!

It's no secret that we're long-time admirers of Wisconsin's own Frank Lloyd Wright and today is Wright's birthday! On this day, we're reminded of his legacy and the wonderful people who trust us with the buildings he's left behind. We've been fortunate enough to review and adapt his original drawings on FOUR different projects over the years – two of them are currently in the works.

Just in time for the summery weekend ahead, finishing touches are being completed on the Riverwalk at Lakefront Brewery!

Gone is the old, narrow exit stair and in its place is a covered balcony giving guests a unique perspective of the river and of the Marsupial Bridge. Two permanent outdoor bathrooms were also added. But the real star of this space is an outdoor beer garden with a new service hut and a covered bar-rail with tons of additional seating.

While we've enjoyed seeing The Back Room at Colectivo Coffee filled over the years, we're thrilled to be partnering with Pabst / Riverside / Turner Hall to design their new music venue on Milwaukee's east side. Once completed, this venue will be able to welcome more guests, better accommodate local and touring artists, and compliment the surrounding neighborhood.

Pabst will buy Farwell Avenue building once targeted for event venue.

Our work on updating the Milwaukee Downtown Plan revolves around one central question: How do we create vibrancy?

We begin with creating physical frameworks that generate unique experience — lively places connected within a network of walkable and inviting streets. The images found within this plan suggest a bold reconsideration of how we shape Downtown Milwaukee into a people-focused destination, woven into the neighborhoods that it surrounds.

Our team is incredibly grateful to be involved in a plan that will help shape the life of the City over the next 20 years and beyond.

TKWA partner Chris Socha was honored to join Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson, our design partners, political leaders and local business leaders for the official launch of Vel R. Phillips Plaza. Mayor Johnson signed the city resolution authorizing construction of this new public plaza named after one of Milwaukee’s and Wisconsin's most important and inspiring leaders.

The plaza will bring to life one of Milwaukee's most important blocks. Located between Vel R. Phillips & 5th Street, the 30,000-square-foot plaza will include a 2,900-square-foot food and beverage building, gardens, and flexible spaces for markets, events and art installations. A bus-rapid transit station fronts the plaza on Wisconsin Avenue and the site is designed to accommodate future expansions of The Hop streetcar system.

Featured Project: Logistics Health Inc.

LHI is a rapidly growing provider of health services programs for government and commercial clients. To meet demand for information technology, call center, and business operations staff space TKWA was hired to design a 60,000sf interior buildout on three floors within a newly constructed building in downtown La Crosse, Wisconsin.

We designed a modern office environment geared toward attracting and retaining a younger workforce with evolving needs. This flexible workplace promotes greater social interaction and features a variety of work spaces from private hoteling spaces, small team rooms, breakout conference areas, and casual gathering spaces.
