Those overripe bananas? Don’t throw them out.
Around here, once they get speckled, nobody eats them — so I peel them, break them into quarters, and freeze for later.
They become the best smoothie add‑ins and banana‑bread starters — and it keeps both waste and grocery costs down.

Need free compost? Go get some from my dear friend Lanie at Trinity Lakes Farm in Parker. Added bonus - joyful greetings from the friendliest dogs and farm animals around!
This year I only got a few buckets worth, not a whole truckload. But if you need that much, they've got plenty! 😁

The dazzling columbines are blooming! They certainly don't mind the chilly temperatures we've been having lately.🥰

Yet another late spring freeze this week. 🥶
Precisely why I never plant before Memorial Day here in Colorado. The ability to keep the plants mobile is priceless. My new baby garden plants stayed safe and warm in the garage until the freeze danger was over. This weekend, time to plant! 😊

Not everyone enjoys chives, but they sure make a beautiful garden bouquet in the spring time! And they return every year with minimal effort. Just add a little water. 💚

A wonderful surprise in the garden today! Dianthus, commonly known as Sweet Williams.
I had seen these plants growing, but I wasn't quite sure what they were until they bloomed. Unintentionally planted, but I think they're from the wildflower seed packet I threw in the garden 2 years ago. They weren't there last year which is why I was so surprised this time around. Seeds are amazing how they can wait until the opportune time to grow. 😁💚

The other day I found some strawberries and chamomile in my garden as I was cleaning out dead leaves and plentiful weeds. That was BEFORE an unexpected late snow storm and freeze. That's Colorado spring weather for you!

Luckily this large branch was the only one we lost with the heavy snow. Hopefully my garden will survive this setback. 🫤

The beautiful prairie flax (Linum lewisii) is in full bloom my garden. I love the color and adore the way it gently sways in the breeze!
