Just a couple more waves of the wand and this one will be officially wrapped!

This herringbone pattern was as rewarding as it was challenging, and I’m really digging that final look! Can’t wait to see it with the new shower door installed!

The Pica Dry is one of my must-have tools on any tile job; and after thousands of successful (and some unsuccessful 🤦🏻‍♂️) markings, my OG Pica pencil gets retired today.

While I will miss my ol reliable, I am excited to break in my new ol reliable. 💪 ✏️

This countertop and backsplash combo really elevate the vibes of this space!

These quartz counters and tile splash will be super easy to maintain; not to mention, super stylish!

As an added bonus, there was even a couple sweet kitties to watch over the project; free of charge! (Just scritches and pets!) 🐈 🐈‍⬛

When this customer replaced their microwave, the size difference left some open space with the backsplash tiles.
A piece of peel and stick tile was then used as a temporary placeholder to cover up the unfinished area.

Well after taking a look, I figured we’d need six replacement tiles to get that top row properly replaced; and guess how many tiles the customer had tucked away in case of a situation such as this? FIVE. 🤦🏻‍♂️

That’s ok though! With a little bit of care,(and a touch of luck) I was able to steal a tile from back behind the stove and get us where we needed to go!

The only thing left was the attempt to best match grout that had been installed a little over two decades ago; and I think it turned out great!

It was an enjoyable challenge to match up those old school wide grout joints while trying to tool my lines to blend seamlessly with the previous installation.

Sometimes the best photo finish is simply making it look like you weren’t even there, and that there wasn’t even a repair performed. I feel like we got there with this one! ✨

So last week I posted about how I love the nostalgic feelings that come along with working here in Chambersburg.

Well today that feeling got turned way up because roughly 23 years ago I was a 17 years old apprentice, standing at a tile saw in this exact driveway.

Now, 23 years later, (and probably 150lbs heavier 🤦🏻‍♂️) I’m back to dress up some backsplash tiles after a new microwave opened up some space above the old tiles.

Both the nostalgia and the gratitude are quite real on this fine Monday! Stay tuned for the before and afters!

Wanna know why I enjoy working in and around Chambersburg so much?

The short answer is because this has always been my home, and I like it here.

The longer answer is because I think it is so cool that I get to work in a community that I care about, alongside people that I care about.

I’ve been welcomed into the homes of past teachers, past classmates, parents and grandparents of old friends, and the list goes on.

I always get such a kick out of it when talking with a customer, only to find out that we have a bunch of mutual friends; or that I used to ride bikes and go skating with their children.

Moments like these are so dear to me, and I’m always grateful and appreciative when I get to share them!

So on this fine thankful Thursday, thank you!
