While designing this small Laundry Room in Sandy Springs, our biggest focus was maximizing functionality without making the space feel too tight. Below are some great ideas you can consider for designing your family-friendly laundry room:
Maximize Vertical Space
• Shelving: Install floating shelves above the washer and dryer to store laundry essentials. These shelves can also hold baskets or bins for organizing smaller items like cleaning supplies, lint rollers, or spare hangers.
Utility Sink
• Small Utility Sink: A small, deep sink is invaluable for pre-soaking clothes, cleaning out stains, or washing off shoes and delicate items. Choose one with built-in storage underneath to maximize space.
Multi-Purpose Countertop
• Folding Station: A countertop, whether installed over a washer/dryer or as a freestanding piece, can provide a convenient area for folding clothes. You can also use this space for sorting laundry or ironing.
Flooring and Wall Materials
• Durable Flooring: Choose moisture-resistant and durable flooring like vinyl, tile, or laminate that can withstand frequent use and potential spills.
• Water-Resistant Paint: For walls, choose water-resistant or washable paint finishes, which will make cleaning up after laundry tasks much easier.
Aesthetics and Design
• Bright Colors: Option for light, neutral colors that make the room feel larger and more airy.
