The man to my right in this photo is Andrejs Ritins — the reason CAN Decorative Painting exists.
In 1996, I moved to Toronto to apprentice with Andrejs and Lori LeMare at Ritins Studio. It was there that our knowledge and love of paints and plasters truly grew. Andrejs opened his home to me when I first arrived in Toronto, until I was settled and able to find my own place.
My journey to learn decorative plasters led me to meet, marry, and build a beautiful family with Davide. This photo from our wedding day captures our Canadian Ritins Studio family, and we will forever be grateful for our time in Toronto with them.
Andrejs deeply loved his work, his family and his home in Latvia. His talent was endless. We are saddened to hear of his passing on May 10 , he was surrounded by his family.
Thank you, Andrejs. We will always think of you fondly. Sending love to his family, and may he rest in peace. .ritins
