The Dead Artists Gallery ๐Ÿ“151 Main Street, Highlands, NC 28741
Come see a large selection of affordable decorative art dating back to the late 18th-20th century Welcome to our Gallery.

The Dead Artists Gallery was created to provide Interior Designers and Architects affordable fine art as decoration for local as well as international client projects. We are proud to offer one of the largest selections of mid-eighteenth through mid-twentieth century art in the Southeast. These are singular, one-off pieces since most of the artists are no longer painting (though all may not be dea

d!). Sizes, color palates and appropriate period framing have all been taken into consideration; the art ranges from whimsical to serious. Because some of our art is decorative for artโ€™s sake, not all of our artists have been identified. Some have been described by our โ€œpickersโ€ without our authentication, but given out of interest. Please call for additional information. For the trade, frame sizes are the dimensions given; canvas size furnished on request. Shipping available to continental United States; pricing includes packing, shipping and insurance. "Fruit, Bell, and Bottles" Still Life with Fruit.
Oil on canvas. Signed and dated L/L "Geo. B. Krantz, 1942" (George Bristol Krantz, Jr.)
Krantz was a Chicago still life artist. Still life was historically used as a genre of showcasing the technical skill of painting.
Krantz's acute attention to the way the drapery interacts with the light on the left, or the way the colors seep behind and through the glass bottles. Light reflective surfaces and drapery are considered some of the most technically demanding skills in painting.And... neutral colors for today's installation palette, 80 years after the fact!
Size 18" ร— 26" in period frame.
$595.

"Laissez les Bon Temps Rouler."
O /Canvas
Signed and dated L/R "Barrie Brisco, '80"
This mid-century Louisiana/New Orleans painting captures the shy excitement of a young woman preparing for Zydeco.
Despite the shallow pictorial plane and the flattened style prescripted by haute painting in the 1980s, this piece nevertheless creates an incredible illusion of depth by taking advantage of the mirror. The young woman peers outwardly at the viewer just as we peer into the mirror and the room behind her, and behind us. Its large size, almost three feet tall, reinforces the play of space. 31 1/2 ร— 23 in contemporary frame. $475,

A new approach to decorating that children's room or for a showstopper in that new Sea- side villa: Hay's " Young Boy in Blue and White Bather". Victoria in all her innocence! (William) Hardie Hay (1859-1934), 1906," this canvas takes its place among Hay's best Victorian genre.

" Deck the Walls". Or Boardroom, Boathouse, Bar, Bath or Bistro. Extraordinary collection of Fortune Magazine covers from America's rush into the Industrial Age.
