Just like her barn door, this new back door was a unique antique find that added a charming touch to the house. It was in rough shape when we found it but with a little elbow grease and a lot of sand paper this little peace of history proudly displays her beautifully deep profile and solidity that you just can't find in a newer door today.

Barn doors are all the rave lately, and are cheaper than you think if you look in the right place. Big box stores like Home depot and Lowe's will charge you an arm and a leg for a door like this one, but with a few phone calls to some of our friends in the antique business, we were able to provide our client with a beautifully unique door that we fixed up better than you could buy in a store. With just having to pay for the tracks and a little bit of labor, our client received a barn door that no one else has and well within her budget.

An easy and unique way we added some extra light to the dark hallway on the other side of this stairwell was to open up the wall farther up the stair case. Not only did this add more light but, it also made the rooms feel larger and more open and gave a nice new flow to the bottom floor.

New cabinets and counter tops

The Silvermere project was an investment property that required a lot of repairs before the remodel could begin. Some of the more extensive repairs included a foundation wall and floor joists that needed to be replaced on the first story and ground level due to extensive rot from water damage. We had to pour footers and set 6 jacks to lift the side of the house off the brick foundation to replace all the damaged wood. The house was also sided in MDF siding which due to years of neglect, leaking gutters, and not keeping up with exterior painting, most of the siding needed to be torn off and replaced.

This was another investment property that needed some minor repairs and a face-lift. The kitchen received new Formica counter tops and paint on the cabinets. We also removed the carpet and tile on the first floor and replaced it with new laminate floating floors. We replaced floor joists in the master bathroom due to a leaking toilet and laid tile in both upstairs bathrooms and laundry room.

This was one of our favorite projects with the sweetest backstory. Patricia Boyer was recommended to us from a previous customer we had done work for. Her husband wanted to do something special for her for their anniversary and Patricia had been talking about wanting her kitchen remodeled for a while since some of her best memories growing up in a big family always involved the kitchen. After meeting with her and her husband, the contract was signed and the couple took off to mountains to enjoy their anniversary, leaving us to deliver what we promised on a very tight deadline. When Patricia and her husband returned from their vacation we presented her with custom built cabinet doors, flanking glass cabinet doors beside her sink with glass shelves and down-lighting to display her crystal stemware, new granite counter tops, new glass chandelier, new kitchen lighting, tile back splash, bead board around the entire first floor, ceiling repair, new sink/faucet, and a cashmere paint job. This became the beginning of a wonderful friendship and a lot more work to come.
