KNOCK-KNOCK: WHO'S THERE - Hello friends. I am happy to tell you that I am returning after a six-month sabbatical in which I had major eye surgery and other life events that kept me away from what keeps me going. I wanted to give the community an update about why I have been quiet for these six months and why you have not heard much out of me. I apologize to my customers and to potential customers but I am back with a renewed dedication and passion for what I do as I celebrate 10 years as a small business owner. First, I appreciate and thank the folks at both Novant Health (Presbyterian Hospital Main) and Horizon Eye Care for their care and expertise, first in an emergency situation and then a long recuperation which is ongoing.
While sitting at a Charlotte FC game last May, I began losing sight in my left eye, went to the ER the next day and within 72 hours I was in surgery to reattach a retina that had separated from my left eye. It was several months before I regained sight in that eye. I lost all of the summer and fall because of this and that was tough for me to accept going into the winter, which as everyone knows, is not my favorite time of year.
I am thankful I was able to address the issue so quickly and had the finest care. It was tough going into the winter without a summer season of working. I think it was a tough winter with extended period of below freezing temperatures and the big February snowstorm.
Now it’s time for my favorite season of the year and you know what I call it……SPRINGTIME IN THE CAROLINAS. So that’s the update for now and I’ve already been out working the past few weeks. So if you see me out in the old neighborhoods near uptown, yell HELLO or a wave would be just as cool and appreciated too.
