Quartz vs Flake — two popular concrete coating systems that each bring a different look and function to a garage floor.

Flake floors are the most common residential choice. They hide imperfections well, add texture, and create a clean finished look that holds up great in garages.

Quartz floors use small colored quartz granules to create a tighter, more uniform finish and are often used where extra durability and slip resistance are important.

Both systems start with the same foundation: proper concrete preparation.

During training we worked hands-on with both systems to understand the differences and how each is installed.

Most garage floors don’t fail because of the coating… they fail because of the preparation.

Concrete has to be mechanically ground so the coating bonds into the surface instead of just sitting on top of it. Skipping this step is why you see peeling and chipping floors.

This was part of my hands-on training before launching OCD Floor Coatings. We believe homeowners deserve a professional installation — not a guess.

We’ll keep showing the process as we get ready to open our schedule.
