The bigger the stump, the more fun we have grinding it. This was a massive oak tree. The roots had grown into and under the foundation of this house. If it ever fell on the house, it would have crushed the house. If it fell away from the house, the root ball would have lifted this end of the house.

Where did I park my motorcycle?
Grinding a stump that grew up through the wheel of a motorcycle. The last part took a lot more work with a saw, but I was finally able to get it all.

Most tree roots are relatively shallow. Most run just slightly below the surface. Certain trees will have roots growing out as far as the limbs reached. Some pine trees will have a tap root that grows straight down several feet.
