π‘οΈ High Humidity in Your Home?
Weβve been getting a lot of calls lately about high humidity inside homes, and in many cases, the cause is tied to fresh air ventilation systems.
π‘ Homes built in the last 10 years (and some older ones) often include a fresh air intake that pulls outside air into your HVAC system. This is usually required because newer homes are built so airtight (to meet ENERGY STAR standards) that they need a way to bring in fresh air instead of just recycling indoor air.
π The problem? On hot and humid days, these systems can bring in warm, moist air, making your HVAC system work harder. Instead of just cooling the air already inside your home, it now has to deal with added heat and humidity from outside β which can raise indoor humidity levels and reduce energy efficiency.
π οΈ What you can do:
Most fresh air systems let you adjust how many minutes per hour they run. If humidity is an issue, consider reducing the run time β or in some cases, temporarily unplugging the system (like weβve done in our own homes) until the weather improves.
If you're unsure about your setup or want advice on adjusting your system, give us a call β we're happy to help!
π Stay cool and comfortable,
