We’re honored to share that Studio Gang has received the 2026 Firm Award!

Founded in Chicago nearly thirty years ago by Jeanne Gang, the Studio is driven by the belief that architecture can help address the most pressing challenges facing our planet and society today. With each project, whether it be a boathouse along the Chicago riverfront or a skyscraper that redraws the skyline, we remain committed to finding ways for design to effect change and make progress towards a brighter future.

A huge thank you to AIA Chicago and the jury for this recognition. This honor celebrates the incredible work of everyone who has been part of the Studio over the past three decades, as well as the clients, collaborators, and communities who have partnered with us along the way.

One Milestone, a new hub for advancing science and research in Boston, is now complete!

Establishing a new destination for Greater Boston’s scientific community, the two-building complex is composed of One Milestone West, designed by Studio Gang, and One Milestone East, designed by . One Milestone is the final building to complete in the first phase of the Enterprise Research Campus (ERC), a new mixed-use development in the Allston neighborhood. The building’s completion marks Studio Gang and Henning Larsen’s latest collaboration on the ERC, which began with a strategic framework plan for creating a vibrant and inclusive public realm that brings the campus and surrounding community together.

Now on view in Chicago! Our new exhibition, “Flyway City: Architecture for a Flourishing Ecosystem,” is open at the Chicago Architecture Center. This show is a passion project for Jeanne and The Studio Gang team that draws on more than 20 years of work on bird-safe design. Combining art and science, it aims to inspire visitors to take action on saving birds from colliding with building glass, an urgent problem that kills more than 1 billion birds each year in the US alone.

Original drawings, multimedia, architectural models, animal specimens, and material samples illustrate how birds interact with the built environment and reveal a range of effective actions that anyone can take to protect birds and create healthier urban ecosystems for all. From low-cost DIY solutions to professional design to policy change, the exhibit highlights how creativity and community arise when we come together to protect the amazing animals who share our cities.

“Flyway City” and its companion exhibition, “Chicago’s Living Habitat,” co-curated with , is on view until January 2027. Head to the link in our bio to plan your visit.

The Shirley Chisholm Recreation Center is the winner of the 2026 MASterworks Award for Best New Building!

Thank you to all our friends, clients, colleagues, and collaborators who joined us to celebrate our new home in San Francisco! We were also excited to officially welcome Weston Walker, who recently relocated to his native California to lead our San Francisco office.

Situated in the heart of the city’s Financial District, our new office supports our growing team and expanding portfolio across the West Coast. Over the last decade, we’ve had the honor of working on projects that include an expansion of the campus, a revitalization of Kresge College at , the residential tower, and a masterplan for the new Mission Rock neighborhood, where we also designed . We were also thrilled to receive AIA California’s 2025 Firm Award in recognition of our commitment to creating architecture that enriches the communities we call home.

As we kick off this new chapter for our San Francisco office, we’re grateful to everyone who has supported and collaborated with us along the way—and we’re excited for what’s ahead.

The Richard Gilder Center for Science, Education, and Innovation at was recently featured in ’s “The Best of the New New York Architecture,” a look back on the past decade of buildings that have stood out by “embrac[ing] the city’s topography and spirit.”

architecture critic Justin Davidson notes, “The new Gilder Center — granite on the outside, shotcrete on the inside, with a seductive composition of concavities and curves — comes off as a true New Yorker: defiantly eccentric, rough, show-offy, and smart. And like any true urbanite, it’s squeezed between neighbors, content to be part of something unthinkably vast.”

The Shirley Chisholm Recreation Center is complete! Named for Brooklyn-born activist, educator, and politician Shirley Chisholm—the first Black woman elected to the U.S. Congress—the Center establishes a welcoming hub for fitness, recreation, learning, and gathering in Brooklyn’s East Flatbush neighborhood.

Preserving and extending the site’s existing recreational uses, the building features a transparent main entrance and large arched windows that invite visitors in while bringing natural light into the interior. Lower levels offer spaces for recreation and exercise, including a double-height competition-grade pool and a gymnasium with a walking track. Daylit spaces for community and education programs on the upper floors lead to a wrap-around rooftop terrace and garden. Openings between floors maximize visual and physical connections between programs, establishing a vibrant and airy atmosphere that welcomes everyone.
