This project involved a rectangular room (referred to as "the den") that was added on to the house quite a few years ago. The den originally contained the fireplace and a large closet where the washer/dryer resided along with some very out of date fixtures. The laundry closet took a sizable bite out of the usable area in the den so the decision was made to demo the closet out and move the laundry facilities downstairs.
The paneling was demoed along with the false beams and drop ceiling right at the entry. New insulation was installed along with new drywall where necessary. Maple trim was chosen to give a bit more of a unique look.
Rectangular rooms can be tricky but due to great color selection on the part of the client the end result is a much more open (and therefore more usable) space that is very warm and cozy yet highly functional.

Here are pictures of the finished product. Flooring was installed by the client. They also did all the painting.
On a side note, there are normally a few areas in any project that can be done by the client with minimal to no experience necessary. If you choose to do this you can save a good bit off the total project price.

Being 100% self employed is a very exciting/terrifying ride. We feel on a daily basis the pressure to deliver high quality work at a fair price and still remain profitable enough to keep going.
We have had the absolute best customers and their trust in us and out abilities is something that we cherish.
In speaking with people in the past, I have commented that if someone is scared to hire a contractor, I don't blame them. There are still bad eggs out there. On the flip side, I know contractors that will not accept a new client unless a current client recommends them. There are bad egg customers also. All that said, there comes a point where both parties have to trust each at least enough to get a project going. To those of you who have shared that trust with us, thank you!

This is a project we did in March. The goal was to give this section of the house a more open concept. Most of the work entailed demoing 2 closets and cutting the top half of a divider wall off then refinishing the walls.
We also pulled an upper cabinet that was installed above an island countertop. This type of design was very popular for awhile and made sense on paper but we have heard a lot of people complain about the fact that it kills the countertop as functionable space.
