Good Evening everyone! Can I be honest in saying this post has taken me about 2 hours to figure out how to do!! I wanted to complete it on my laptop since I am such a klutz on the keyboard on my phone!
I want to start by explaining what I would like to start doing; "Tidbit Tuesday"! I will give you little bits of information that you may know, or may not be aware of regarding our favorite plants!
For my first ever Tidbit Tuesday; Let's talk Poinsettias! We have all seen them, they are usually a bright vibrant red leaf plant that we see adorn our Christmas trees and the grocery stores with gosh awful glitter on their leaves! Poinsettias are a wonderful addition to your holiday decor as well as adding color to your overall aesthetic house plant decor!
Many think that because Poinsettias are out during the holidays, that they can tolerate cold temperatures. Did you know that the Poinsettia is native to Mexico? What does Mexico have? Warm Temperatures; Therefore the Poinsettia needs a warm climate to thrive. If you are gifted one of these beautiful plants this holiday season, and you live in a climate where temperatures stay above 50 degrees F in the evening, you should be able to leave your Poinsettia outside, otherwise bring that vibrant beauty in and keep her warm!
The Poinsettia is mildly toxic to our furry friends! Although I do not encourage any plant owner to allow their animals to chew on plants, we know that this sometimes will happen. To prevent your four legged bestie from having an adverse reaction to chewing on the Poinsettia, keep it out of their reach. Signs to look for are drooling, vomiting, skin and eye irritation!
Did you learn something after reading this that you did not already know? What is your favorite Holiday plant, Christmas or not?
If you like this "Tidbit Tuesday", let me know, is there something you would like to see for next week Tuesday?
