Times of Refreshing

“Times of Refreshing” and how it got started…. Acts 3:19 “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord…” The word refreshing means to be renovated, restored and replenished. I find it interesting that the word “re” means to make anew, to begin again, and to start from the beginning. About twelve years ago a friend shared the following analogy with me. When we are saved Christ moves into an old shack, but He desires and desires to live in a mansion. This spoke volumes to me. Immediately, being the visually inspired person that I am, I had a vision of what this looked like. Calling a close friend, I explained the vision and asked if he could build this for me. I now have what I call my “Shacky House” and I use this as an instrument to teach with. My “Shacky House” consists of two houses that sit back to back. A wall separates the two houses creating a sky on each side. One side is an old run down dilapidated shack with holes in the roof, junk piled up in the yard, and dark skies. It looks like it’s about to fall apart. It is an absolute dreadful site to see. The other side is a mansion that is painted in soothing colors to reflect peace and tranquility. It is beautifully landscaped with green grass, bright flowers and colorful trees. The sky is blue with billowing white clouds. It is a sight to behold. When I was saved in 1995 Jesus Christ, the Great Carpenter moved into my old shack (my old self) and started the remodeling process of my life. Repentance gave God permission to demolish my old shack in order to create a mansion for Him to dwell in. He had to rip up floors of hatred, tear down the roof of bitterness, cut out doors of shame, demolish rooms of resentment, break through the walls of anger, pull down the ceilings of rage, and break out the windows of un-forgiveness. Believe me, the entire process is not finished yet, but living a life of repentance opens doors to continue this much needed process. I’m not a mansion yet, but I am well on my way to becoming one! A few years after the renovations began God gave me desires to share this with other women. A passion began to rise up in me to start a ladies conference called “Times of Refreshing.” A place where women could be restored, renovated, and replenished. A conference that is designed to equip, prepare and train women to go forth in purpose and in power. Encouraging each one to seek what they were created to do for the Kingdom of God and then walk in it as they desire to live a life filled with holiness, love, humility and repentance. The remodeling process may not be easy, but it is well worth it.
