I have a potty mouth and I apologise for that. But this is a subject close to my heart. Too many people tell me that they don’t like to host (or as I prefer to call it, have people over) because they’re worried they’ll be judged for the state of their home. And I can tell you, the only reasons I would ever judge you: you offend me with harsh overhead light, you don’t offer me a drink (dry white wine preferred, thank you very much) and you don’t give me some kind of snack (chips are a favorite). Oh, and you don’t relax and sit down for a chat - because being your own best guest is exactly that, and having people over is fun, I promise, especially once we let go of the perfectionism that the algorithm shows us (and trust me, those perfectly styled evenings are usually a dead bore).
Please don’t misunderstand this: I make an effort when I have friends over. I love doing that, I love to cook, I love to show off our home. But I don’t let the state of my home dictate if and when I have them over - because as long as there is indirect light or a candle plus drinks and snacks, anywhere can be a place to chat, laugh, connect.
Have I inspired you to invite some friends over? Let me know in the comments. And give me a follow for more unhinged opinions. Never beige, always organic.

Perfectly perfect houses and why I don’t think they have a future:

- aren’t we all craving a little less perfection and a ton more human interaction and imperfections?
- the cosier my home, the safer I (and my family) feel. That’s a huge plus in my book.
- perfect homes don’t work with you, they work against you. They only look good if there is no sign of any human life. I should know, I grew up in a perfect home (it was still incredibly cosy though).
- in an age of AI, anything and anyone can be perfect. Imperfections will become the new “it” thing, mark my words.

Ready to leave your perfectionist streak behind you? Or do you live in constant worry of not having tidied up enough (thanks for that one, mum)? Let me know in the comments ✌️

And if you’re ready to add more personal imperfections
to your home, give me a follow or send me a DM if you ready to go all the way!

Thank you. To all the people who have lent their support, advice, a listening ear in the long process of putting the book together. I appreciate it more than words can express. And to all who have ordered or will order or flip through it and take away a little piece on how to create a home that is just for them: thank you too.

So you’ve Pinterested yourself into a spiral (again)? I can help with that.

Stop shopping the same three shops. If the algorithm recommended it, so did it to 400,000 other people. Originality lives elsewhere (in thrift stores, antiques, the local shop with the good eye…).
One thing in the room should make you slightly nervous. If everything feels “safe,” nothing feels special.
Mix your eras. A heavy gilded mirror above a MCM sideboard isn’t a mistake — it’s tension, and tension makes design sing.
Pattern on pattern is not a crime. It’s a skill that can be learned. Train your eye and play around.
Buy art that you love. Decorate around it. Not the other way round.
And finally: stop waiting until you “find the right rug/lamp/pillow.” The room that’s waiting to be finished is the room that never gets lived in 🥲

The Art of the Clash - A Manifesto Against Mundane Design. Out April 14.

Nothing will help but a consultation IRL? DM me and we can take it from there 💞

Things that were not on my bingo card:
- writing a book
- writing a book about design
- being filmed in my home to show my very own interior design (& textiles!)
- that I absolutely LOVED being in front of the camera (maybe nobody who knows me is surprised ha), also thanks to the amazing team
- how much the design world would give back to me; I’ve never felt more at home & myself than working in this industry
- that my beloved great room could look like a million bucks, all thanks to this incredible wallpaper; this will get its own post soon but the light was just too good today not to share this pic
- and finally, this is something that was on my bingo card but I want to share it anyway: nothing is better than to be surrounded by wonderful people who want to see you succeed, in this particular case & ~ thank you for brainstorming, talking things through, thinking ahead and laughing along 💞

Ok, done with the soppy post, back to regular my rage bait err informative content. As usual, follow for bold interiors, zero rules and absolutely no greige (but good muddy beige can absolutely happen) ✌️
