It’s sure been a crazy season, but thank God for the garden. Like many of you, I’m not working, so we are all in the same boat! To be honest, I actually retired this year, but I plan to keep this website going as a garden blog. Hope you enjoy the new posts and send me your garden questions. I’ll do my best to answer them.
Here is a sample of summer herbs including Genovese Basil and lemon basil.

Although we’ve had a wet and somewhat cooler spring, summer is finally here! And the garden is beginning to show a bit of its summer glory. Seedlings are sprouting and if we’ve kept up on maintenance, then our beds or edged and mulched and recently planted.

If you've been to my page before, you know that I'm all about container gardening. Containers are beautiful additions to a patio, front walkways or anywhere. They are so versatile. Not only that, they can be done for a variety of cost, from inexpensive too extravagant. Here's some examples of some pots that I use around my house that cost very little to make and employ a variety of plant material in them. I also go with bold colors and change them from year to year, if I have plastic or fiberglass containers, I often spray paint them to change the colors!

This is going in my personal record book as a very fruitful year for business and maybe the most successful from a creative standpoint. My gardens and landscapes have been known to wear an air of simple Beauty and restrained elegance. The diversity in which we have worked this year, from a radiant pool deep in the woods to suburban foundation plantings with the new updated style makes me very proud. Of course, I would be foolish if I do not acknowledge my staff. All the ideas and experiences I've had in horticulture and my vast knowledge and love for design, mean nothing without the men that works for me! They take these ideas and they implement them perfectly. And that's why it's so important that we are in sync and must be of like mine. That may be the thing I am most proud of.
I have concluded, over the years, that a landscape employing beautiful plants, trees, flowers, shrubs, brick, stone and water with seemingly natural ease is born of sweat and tears. But, may I ask, is there any thing more worthwhile, than a pursuit that elevates the spirit and helps us see the workings of nature, as enhanced as she may be (through the landscapers' hand) literally in our own backyards?
