Even though there’s still snow on the ground, crop planning is in full swing. Figuring out the quantity of seeds we need each season involves a series of careful calculations based on everything from plant spacing requirements to the amount of bed feet we have marked for planting (which in turn is informed by market analytics from the previous growing season)!

It’s been pretty quiet down on the farm for the last few months, but with the start of the growing season just around the corner it’s time to make sure the hoop houses are cleared of snow. Ensuring that the pitched roofs are shedding snow properly and clearing away buildup on the sides of the hoop houses allows sunlight to permeate through the clear plastic that covers these structures. Before snow clearing efforts it was about 50 degrees in HH1, but once the sun was able to shine through the temperature increased to 70 degrees within a mere half hour. ☀️☀️☀️
