Intensive planting yields more. Each individual plant may not be optimized, but that’s the not the goal. The goal is a healthy garden overall.

You are NOT doing it wrong! There’s a million tips, tricks, and hacks; and they all work. So it’s ok to not do any of them.

I prune as little as possible, and it’s contextual based on the trellis I’m using, but in most cases it’s totally fine to just let them grow.

We love our honeybees, but native bees like leaf cutter and mason bees are the real workhorses of the garden. Can’t wait to welcome them to our ecosystem.

I also love a project that lets me use some of this scrap wood I can’t seem to part with.

It really is that easy. Blueberries and strawberries can grow in the same bed, very happily. 10 blueberry plants and 24 strawberry crowns fit comfortable in these two new front yard beds in haddon township.

Bonus garlic harvest! 🧄 Scapes are the plants attempt to flower so make sure to take them out. And it’s also extra food! As if garlic wasn’t already the most magical crop, right?

Thin the fruit on your fruit trees.

Most of my clients who’ve had fruit trees in the past tell me the fruit never make it, and they assume it’s 100% the squirrels and birds. But another major cause is not thinning.

These trees often start making more fruit than their own limbs can handle, so you have to help them out.

We’ll talk later about how to protect what’s left from squirrels. Those blueberry bags are going to get a second life as apple/peach branch bags!
