Where your eye naturally lands when you walk in
How the room connects to the spaces around it
And what doesn’t need to be there

That last one tends to be the most important.

One of the most common issues we see in otherwise beautiful spaces:

Scale.

Furniture that’s just slightly too small for the room.
Rugs that don’t quite anchor the space.
Pieces that don’t relate to each other proportionally.

It’s not always obvious at first, but it’s usually what makes a room feel slightly off.

When scale is right, everything else tends to fall into place much more naturally.

A few things that tend to make the biggest difference:

Layering sources: not relying on a single overhead light
Placement: where light hits matters just as much as the fixture itself
Tone: warm vs cool completely changes how a room feels

You can have the right furniture, the right finishes… and still have a space feel off if the lighting isn’t working.
