Ways to help
Thanks to Cone Health Tim & Carolynn Rice Center for Child & Adolescent Health, Healthy Blue NC, and numerous donors, we are grateful to offer upcoming drive-thru events (one event per SNAP household). Children are a major part of SNAP, with nearly 40% of all recipients being children, according to the USDA. Want to help families affected by the SNAP cuts? Hereβs how:
π₯« Donate food β healthy, shelf-stable items and produce are our largest. Right now, we especially need canned beans, oatmeal, canned fruits and vegetables, pasta and spaghetti sauce, low-sugar cereals, canned chicken, peanut butter and jelly.
π΅ Give financially β your donations help us purchase food and fill gaps when shelves run low: backpackbeginnings.org/donate
π Volunteer your time β help volunteer in our warehouse or assist with a drive-thru event. To sign up for warehouse work, please visit backpackbeginnings.org/volunteer.
If youβd like to volunteer at one of these drive-thru events, please email [email protected] with your preferred date. Please note these will be held outdoors and may involve some lifting.
π£οΈ Spread the word β share our posts and help raise awareness about local food insecurity.
π’ Organize a drive β connect with friends, neighbors or co-workers to collect needed food.
Our drop-off locations and hours each week can be found at backpackbeginnings.org/contact. All links are in our bio.
Thank you for helping our neighbors. ππ
