Today marks 20 years of serving our community as Radon Measurement and Mitigation, Inc. I'm incredibly grateful for the continued support of my clients, partners, and friends over the years.

To mark this milestone, I'm excited to share that I've recently relocated to a new shop! The added space allows for better organization and more room for materials - making it easier to prepare for each days tasks. It's a big step forward that's already improving how I serve you.

There's still a bit of work to complete - siding is scheduled to be installed next week, and a new driveway will follow - but I'm already taking advantage of the new space!

Thank you for being part of this journey. I look forward to many more years ahead.

I was recently called out to repair a storm damaged system. A competitor used a cheap hanger called a J Hook. It is not designed for this application and definitely not built to tolerate UV rays from the sun. It makes them brittle and they break really easy. The other two pictures show the brackets that we use at RMMI. It wraps all the way around, secured with stainless steel hardware and is UV resistant. A few dollars more and it's a much better finished product.

Saw this non conforming system a while back. The exhaust above the fan is approximately 4 ft above the ground, not even close to NEHA, NRPP requirements. Be sure the contractor you hire is properly certified. Call Radon Measurement and Mitigation today!

Hey all!
If you have a sump pump in your basement, please be sure to inspect it several times a year. While working on a house today, I found that the sump pump had failed and it looks like it has not been working for a while. In the picture below is the sump crock and the brown line, or scum line as I like to call it, shows just how close the basement came to flooding.

This house had two options. Run the system from the small mechanical room out the front of the house right past the picture window. That would have been an ugly installation. Or through the finished lower level rec room. We were able to keep it in the corner and trimmed the ceiling pe*******on with a board that will be painted and can be removed if access is ever necessary. The rest of the system goes through the garage with the fan in the garage attic and out through the roof. Perfectly hidden and very successful. Radon was reduced to less than 1.0 pCi/l.

This is the garage access to the basement. The only other option for this house would have been an exterior route on the street side which would have been an eyesore. So we drilled a test hole through the concrete floor and were able to determine that a garage route would be a successful and keep the system hidden from view.

We had a very challenging system this week. The buyer of the home insisted that the radon system vent through the garage. There was 1 small area where this was possible. We took the vent pipe from a small crawl space area, through a cedar closet, through the garage and out through the roof. The system is well hidden, the seller is happy with the price and the buyer is happy that they do not have a radon system running outside of the home.
