Construction Progress-A House on a Ravine

This 1912 home is prominently situated overlooking the Glen Echo Ravine, and it is a stunning example of a side-gabled American Craftsman Bungalow. Construction work is progressing nicely on the interior and exterior renovations. Care is being taken to retain and restore original architectural features and materials, and to sensitively integrate new elements.

Final Photography Captures the Restored Beauty of The Sullivan Building

RKA is pleased to share Brad Feinknopf’s professional photography of Louis Sullivan’s 1915 “jewel box” bank, now beautifully restored in downtown Newark, Ohio after a ten-year multi-phased project. The restoration of this national treasure included the meticulous conservation and restoration of the exterior terra cotta facades, intricate exterior mosaics, leaded glass and opalescent glass windows, and decoratively painted interior murals.

2025 Hallelujah Tour of Downtown Churches

Daniel DeGreve and Peter Krajnak will be speaking at Columbus Landmarks’ 2025 Hallelujah Tour of Downtown Churches on Saturday December 6, 2025. Daniel will be presenting at Broad Street United Methodist Church, while Peter will be presenting at Trinity Episcopal Church. This walking tour of six historic churches includes architectural history presentations, insight into the congregations, and festive musical performances.

The Sullivan Building Restoration is Complete

The decade-long restoration of Louis Sullivan’s “jewel box” bank building in downtown Newark, Ohio is now complete. Originally opened in 1915 as the Home Building Association Company bank, the building will now be home to Explore Licking County and will serve as a vibrant hub for tourism and community gatherings. RKA is extremely proud to have led an amazing Project Team in the restoration of this national treasure. Sullivan Building Rededication

Approximately 110 years after the original dedication of Louis Sullivan’s Home Building Association Company bank in downtown Newark Ohio, the community gathered again to celebrate the Rededication of this iconic building after extensive restoration, and the addition of the adjacent Annex. RKA was honored to lead a Project Team of highly skilled designers, engineers, contractors, and craftspeople in a ten-year, multi-phased project. The building re-opened as the home of Explore Licking County, a vibrant hub for tourism and visitors, and a community gathering place. The RKA Team was thrilled to be in attendance with other Project Team members, dignitaries, and community supporters of this special project.

Sullivan Building Restoration Nearing Completion

After more than a decade of work on the restoration of Louis Sullivan’s “jewel box” bank building, RKA looks forward to celebrating the completion of this multi-phased project. Next week, this national treasure will reopen as the new home of Explore Licking County, a vibrant tourism hub in the heart of Newark, Ohio, 110 years after its first opening.

RKA Bexley Attic Transformation Project in Progress

Construction is underway at this historic home for the transformation of the formerly vacant attic space into two bedrooms and a full bathroom. The existing slate roof will be punctuated with new dormers that bring daylight and additional headroom into these living spaces. Custom built-in cabinets and shelves provide for the efficient use of the knee walls under the low areas of the sloped ceilings. New interior finishes will complement the high quality finishes found throughout the home.
