Colusa Steam We are a group working toward the restoration of Southern Pacific 2-8-0 #2706, a historic steam locomotive manufactured by Baldwin Locomotive works in 1904

Southern Pacific #2706 is a consolidation locomotive 2-8-0 manufactured in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania by Baldwin Locomotive works in April 1904. It began its service the following month in Ogden, Utah and worked for the Southern Pacific Transportation Company at various locations around the system including Los Angeles, Colton, San Jose, Ge**er, Roseville and finally San Francisco Bayshore yards u

ntil it was vacated on November 29, 1957. It sat in the Bayshore deadline for five years with several other locomotives, awaiting its fate. Fortunately for the 2706 it was donated to the city of Watsonville, CA for use in a children's playground at Ramsay Park. There it remained until October 17, 1989, when it was moved to Santa Cruz, CA where it sat in an industry spur off of the Davenport branch enduring vandalism and a property owner who desperately wanted it gone. It was purchased and removed from Santa Cruz by its current owner in January 2000, and moved around several more times before a permanent location was established in Colusa, CA in September 2006. In October 2013 the shop was finally completed creating a place for the Colusa Steam project to move forward.
