Current projects in process, Beforehand photos, in Stanford, Palo Alto, Morgan Hill, Gilroy, Carmel and Los Altos, overall master plans and construction installations. Exciting things are happening! An understanding of budget, and costs of items, is key to feeling comfortable with the design plan. I design sustainably, so your garden will last, and know the key: scale and fit relationships, for the best design layout.

I create rain gardens to recycle rain water, do grey water design, and determine needs for terracing, seat walls or retaining walls. I understand costs so can guide you in different directions. Design for low maintenance is integral, as I want you to enjoy your garden and landscape without creating work.

I provide plants with a long season of bloom, change through seasons, edible gardens, native, drought tolerant plants, and deer-resistant plants as needed. I have a total familiarity with plants that work in our areas, from the coast to the mountains, in widely varying microclimates to get the best results for you.

I create a harmonious, private garden for you and your family to enjoy and relax in, so you can have total a respite and refuge, at your own home.

The Fairy gate and recycled teak fence at the dining patio, Redwood City, CA. Really fun gates with self-closing adjustable hinges, and I put in lock sets too. Beyond is the Komodo Dragon flagstone pathway! Fun and almost entirely edible landscape, with grey water recycling as well.

Here's an inexpensive pool privacy renovation project recently designed and installed for a new single owner. The owner - and good neighbors- both wanted more privacy at her upper deck level with views into the home so as to relax and feel comfortable outside and inside. The pool was built in the 70's with the entire yard paved and many unsafe steps, at different levels. Goals were to have safe access down stairs out to the front yard, reduce much dated paving and rectangular design while keeping access, have a dog-friendly / dog-use yard, and have new easy-care sustainable plantings surrounding and softening the yard. The design pattern matches the curvilinear design of the pool.

All this work at less than $30,000 budget was a lot to accomplish, especially with higher soil level behind the back fence, causing mud wash into the pool, inadequate drainage behind the pool wall, no stair railings at pool patio, dangerous stone steps, and crude stone work with a dated look. Creating safe access everywhere and pool safety items within reach were imperative to me. Low maintenance plantings will spill over the pool wall stonework to soften the view, nestle the pool into its surroundings, and provide color as well as bird and bee habitat opportunities. Happy client and dogs now!

Great fire pit, at a good table height. Make your back yard or patio a great place for feeling comfortable! This comes in several shapes, is propane, and under $1000+-. Cover lifts off, looks really attractive in person. The generous size makes it good for keeping the required social distance too.
