23 days in on our DeSoto cocktail pool project and we’ve got tile & coping completed, the pool backfilled, equipment on site, and the patio cover up and ready for tongue & groove.

Up next: decking, equipment installation, sprinklers & landscaping, and finishing out the patio cover.

The next video is coming as soon as I get it edited 😂

Just a little over 3 weeks from dig to this point. Stay tuned — this backyard is coming together fast. 🔥

The strength of a swimming pool starts long before the gunite is applied.

This steel framework is the backbone of the pool shell. Proper placement, spacing, and reinforcement help the pool withstand thousands of pounds of water and years of ground movement.

At Dive Deep Custom Pools, we build every pool from the ground up with long-term strength in mind.

Watering the gunite is one of the most important steps after a pool shell is installed.

Gunite doesn’t simply “dry”—it cures through a chemical reaction with water. Keeping the shell damp during the first several days helps it cure properly, gain strength, and reduces the chance of surface cracking caused by drying too quickly.

It may look like I’m just standing in a pool with a garden hose, but this small step plays a major role in building a strong, long-lasting pool shell.

At Dive Deep Custom Pools, we pay attention to the details—even the ones most homeowners never see.

Not all pools have to be big. This cocktail pool will get the job done.

In this video I explain a few things most homeowners will never see once the pool is finished — rebar size, spacing, and gunite thickness.

These are also some of the easiest places for a builder to cut costs and save money on a job.

The first stages of a pool build are some of the most important. Once it’s covered up, you’ll never see it again — but it can make or break the pool.

Day 2 Rebar! Rebar! Rebar!!

One of the most important parts of a swimming pool is something you’ll never see once the project is finished.

The steel.

This is the backbone of the entire pool. Once the gunite is shot, all of this disappears—but the strength behind it is there for the life of the pool.

At Dive Deep Custom Pools, we don’t believe in cutting corners on the parts you can’t see. This pool was built with 1/2” rebar on 8” centers, creating a strong structural framework before we ever move on to gunite.

There are plenty of ways to make a pool cheaper. Using less steel, thinner walls, and cutting back on materials are some of them.

That’s just not how we build pools.

The finished product might be what everyone sees, but what’s underneath it is what matters most.
