Great JBP workshop today! Had a full house and lots of different trees at different stages of development were looked at and worked on. Now I’m back at the airport and looking forward to my next bonsai stop!

Day 26-28: It’s not about how much you take off, it’s about WHAT you remove that makes a difference. Taper must be present in order to give your bonsai the right scale. Keeping strong shoots throughout your tree ensures the health of your bonsai. Two very important lessons to learn. (Just remember that it all starts with good roots and proper bonsai soil.)

Day 25 - Taken what seems like forever to post these, but here are some amazing trees that I didn’t have time to get my hands on. 😄 In particular the wild hackberry waiting to be collected! 😳

Day 23-24 “Working with damaged trees”. (Sounds like the title to a good demo one day.)
Sh*te happens and trees that were once amazing lose their old style and shape. Our job is to try to reinvent them. Stay tuned for these tree’s transformations.

Day 22 - BonsaiSmiths Workshop Day! A cold day but a successful day. Students learned how to “Make Amazing Roots” with advanced bonsai techniques. Next workshop is March 22, don’t miss it!

Day 19-21 Spent some time picking up donated trees for TBC, followed by a full repotting day with members of the board. Looking forward to a fall opening. Lots of tree and ground breaking developments still to come.
