Catalyst - An Agent for Change

My name is Carla Shaw and I'm the owner/designer of Catalyst Creations. I'm a wife, mom to 4 grown children, Mimi to 5 (soon to be 6!) grandkids, and doggy mom to our boy Tex. Im also a passionate Jesus follower, who is a tattooed, eye brow pierced, funky hair, sometimes cussing believer that spent 8 years living in So Africa working as a missionary.

My passion is "transformation ". Whether it's helping people walk in who God designed them to be, or transforming things around me, I love being a part of it. A dear friend used the word "Catalyst" to describe my life & I loved it so much, I tattooed it on my wrist as a reminder of my passion. A Catalyst is something that helps transform one thing into something else. I started transforming furniture during our sabbatical when I bought an old dresser because I was determined not to live out of a suitcase for 6 months. I was immediately hooked! Transforming something that wasn't useable or beautiful into something that was fit right into who I am. So, when I decided to create my business, Catalyst Creations seemed the perfect name!

In addition to furniture painting & refurbishing, I also offer custom painting for your own pieces. Too many times there's a piece you love, but it just doesn't fit your decor anymore. I'd love to transform it into a beautiful piece that fits you! I also love to find, refurbish & upcycle vintage home decor and you can find my booth at many Vintage Market Days in the Texas area!
