Shout out to my awesome team at Main Street Mowing. They are an awesome group of individuals who wake up every morning and get their hands dirty. In the office, in the field, selling services to our customers, and always planning for the future. Main Street Mowing would be nothing without so many dedicated people who wake up every day to grow the business. Thank goodness everything does not rest on my shoulders alone. When we have obstacles we tackle them together. When we have big wins we celebrate them together. It is fun to build a company that has people dedicated to winning.
In the office, we dig deep and seek to provide better communication, and custom exceptions to the rule so that we can take care of our customers better. That takes caring individuals that go further and try harder because they care. For example: Mrs. Jones just lost her husband and in our meeting, it was brought up that we should discount or offer services for a limited time at no cost and send flowers. This is a great thing to do but I would have never thought of it. My talents don't run in that direction. But my team, which has daily interaction with Mrs. Jones, has a talent for people skills, compassion, and the ability to remember the small details about those they come into contact with.
In the field, we have crew foremen who put their hands on properties. They know these properties and the pets that live there. If a client is missing from their route, they call us and ask if it was something they did to lose a client. They care about losing clients. Not because they own the company but because they own their jobs. They own the responsibility of doing a great job. Yes, they do think of Main Street Mowing clients as if they were their own clients.
I have a great team and the responsibility to employ them. To provide a method we can turn our talents into dollars. It is not easy to own a business. Not only to provide for my family but to hire and fire correctly to grow the strength of the company to ensure the company can endure hard times and provide a living for all those who work in the team. It is fun when everything is working correctly and it is stressful when it is not. Having a team dedicated to moving in the right direction makes the project run smoother, faster, and better all around.
I really have no point in this post, no call to action for you. Just wanted to put my appreciation in writing before my day started and I got busy solving problems and doing the job part of owning my company.
