Ever wonder how guests drive off your gated property without fumbling for a remote? On this automatic gate install, we set up a virtual exit loop. It uses a radar system that senses a vehicle approaching the gate from the inside, opens it, and lets them roll right out.

We also added a photoeye safety sensor. If a person or vehicle is in the gate's path while it closes, the gate stops and reverses so nothing gets crushed. That mix of convenience and safety is what a properly built automatic gate should do.

A fence project is rarely just about the fence line. On this multi-family build we handled 2,500 feet of perimeter fencing, plus easement gates, double drive gates, wood fencing, and the pool fence to keep the property secure and organized.

Then the contractor asked if we could add something for the residents, so we are putting in a 50 by 100 foot dog park. Once the dirt work is done, our fence team comes in to set post and stand the fencing up. A safe spot for residents to walk their dogs is a nice touch on a job like this.

Two things have to happen with any automatic gate: it needs to let you out, and it can never close on your vehicle or a person. That's what a free exit sensor and a safety photoeye do. As a truck pulls up to leave, the exit sensor detects it and opens the gate on its own. On the way back in, if the gate starts to close while you're still in the path, the safety photoeye catches the obstruction and reverses the gate right back open.

We build both into every automatic gate we install because a gate that only opens is only half a system. It protects your property, your vehicle, and the people using it every day.

How do residents let a guest through the front gate without ever getting up? Telephone entry.

On this multi-family property we installed a Keri Systems Entry Guard Silver 750, tied straight into the front gates. A guest looks up the resident in the directory, calls up, and the resident presses 9 to open the gate from their phone. The whole system handles up to 750 residents.

The part most people never see is the coordination that makes it work. We planned the conduit and underground wiring early in the project, running it under the concrete before it was poured, so everything connects cleanly to the gate operators.
