Great job identifying! 🎉 English Oak, Quercus robur 'Fastigiata'

While our DFW summers can be harsh for them at times, they look great in landscapes with their narrow, columner form.

Root flare depth matters.

These post oaks were recently uncovered after we discovered their root flares had been buried nearly 3 feet deep over a period of many years. When the natural flare of a tree is covered by excess soil, mulch, construction debris, or grade changes, the trunk tissue can stay too wet, oxygen can be reduced, and decay can develop where we need strength the most.

After carefully excavating the root flares, our team used resistance drilling to evaluate internal wood condition and check for decay. That information helps us determine whether the trees are still structurally viable and what care plan is appropriate moving forward.

Post oaks are tough Texas natives, but they do not tolerate root disturbance or buried trunk tissue well. Finding and correcting these issues early can make a major difference.

Concerned about soil piled around your trees or a flare you can’t see? Contact our team or visit us online to schedule a certified arborist visit.

We’re seeing a great example here of how past stress compounds over time.

These eastern redcedars are showing signs of decline after recent seasons of drought and environmental stress. When trees are pushed beyond their limits, even tough, drought-tolerant species like redcedar can begin to thin, discolor, and struggle to maintain healthy growth.

But here’s where it gets interesting 👇

Those small, round, brown structures you see are cedar-apple rust galls. During wet spring weather, they produce those bright orange, jelly-like “horns” (called telial horns). While they look alarming, they don’t significantly harm the redcedar itself.

However, redcedar plays an important role in the life cycle of this fungus—it’s one of two required hosts. The other hosts?
👉 Callery pears
👉 Apples
👉 Crabapples
👉 Fruiting pears

And those trees can be much more impacted, developing leaf spots, defoliation, and reduced vigor.

This is a perfect reminder that tree health isn’t just about what we see today—it’s the result of seasons of stress, site conditions, and even nearby plant relationships.

If you’re noticing decline, unusual growths, or spotting on your trees, we’re here to help you connect the dots and protect your landscape long-term.

Spring doesn’t just wake up your trees—it wakes up the pests that take advantage of them. 🌳

Flatheaded apple tree borers are becoming active right now, and they’re drawn to trees already under stress. Once their offspring get active beneath the bark, they disrupt the tree’s ability to move water and nutrients—often long before you notice anything is wrong.

This is exactly why spring is one of the most important times to have your trees evaluated.

When we visit your property, we’re looking beyond the surface—checking for early signs of insect activity, stress, and vulnerabilities that could invite pests like this. Catching these issues early allows us to protect your trees before damage becomes severe or irreversible.

Healthy trees are resilient trees—and proactive care is the key.

Let’s take a look together. Schedule a visit with one of our certified arborists and give your trees the strong start they need this season. 🌿

Spring is when your trees set the tone for the entire year 🌳—and surprisingly, your irrigation system plays a bigger role than most people realize.

In this photo, we see water running during freezing conditions earlier this week, creating ice buildup on branches. While it may look beautiful, this kind of timing can add unnecessary stress to trees when they’re just coming out of dormancy.

As temperatures fluctuate in North Texas, it’s critical to:
đź’§ Adjust irrigation timers for changing weather
đź’§ Avoid watering during freezing conditions
💧 Make sure watering supports root health—not added stress

Spring is a pivotal window. The right care now helps trees leaf out strong, resist pests, and handle summer heat. The wrong conditions? They can quietly set trees back for months.

We regularly consult with clients on watering practices as part of overall tree health. Small adjustments can make a big difference in how your trees perform throughout the year.

If you’re unsure whether your watering schedule is helping or hurting your trees, we’re here to help. Visit our website or give us a call to schedule a certified arborist consultation—we’d love to take a look.

Spring is here in North Texas, and trees are entering one of their most active growth periods of the year. 🌿 As new leaves and branches develop, canopies become fuller and heavier—right around the same time spring storms and strong winds start moving through our area.

Proper pruning and routine tree care can make a big difference in how well your trees handle these seasonal stresses. By removing weak, damaged, or poorly structured branches, we help reduce the risk of storm damage to both your trees and your property while encouraging stronger, healthier growth.

Spring is the perfect time to evaluate the structure and health of your trees before severe weather arrives.

If you’d like peace of mind heading into storm season, we’re here to help. Visit our website or give us a call to schedule a visit with one of our certified arborists.

For more than two decades, we’ve had the privilege of helping care for one of Dallas’ historic green spaces — Reverchon Park. 🌳

Named after the area’s first botanist, Julian Reverchon, this park has long been considered the crown jewel of Dallas parks. In the late 1990s, when the park faced serious challenges, our team partnered with community leaders and neighbors to organize the first major cleanup effort. More than 500 volunteers showed up, and that spirit of community has continued every year since.

Today, we’re proud to sponsor the annual Reverchon Roundup, where volunteers come together to plant flower beds, clear litter, and remove fallen tree limbs — all while celebrating and caring for a park that means so much to our city.

Community stewardship is at the heart of what we do. When we care for trees and green spaces together, we help create healthier, more vibrant places for everyone.

đź“… Join us Saturday, March 14, 2026
• 9:30 AM – Registration & orientation
• 10:00 AM – Cleanup begins
• 12:00 PM – Community picnic lunch

Let’s work together to keep this historic park thriving. We’d love to see you there! 🌿

Spring in North Texas is just around the corner — and that means it’s time to get ahead of potential problems before they take hold. 🌿

If you have ornamental pear trees, especially Bradford pears, now is the time to schedule a certified arborist visit and discuss fire blight prevention and treatment.

Fire blight is a fast-moving bacterial disease that can blacken blossoms and shoots almost overnight, leaving branches looking scorched. In severe cases, it can cause significant dieback and long-term structural issues. The key? Early evaluation and timely treatment.

When we visit your property, we:
✔️ Inspect for overwintering cankers
✔️ Assess overall tree health and structure
✔️ Recommend targeted treatment plans
✔️ Provide proactive spring care to strengthen your trees

Healthy trees don’t just happen — they’re the result of thoughtful, expert care. And spring is the most important time to act.

Let’s protect your ornamental pears before symptoms appear. Visit our website or call our team to schedule your certified arborist consultation today. We’re here to help your trees thrive all season long.
