Here is another free tip from Five Star Overhead Door.
With all the ice and sleet in the DFW area you should do this before trying to open your door with the automatic door opener. Using the automatic opener on a door that is frozen shut will damage the top panel section in the middle. First pull the red emergency cord down and try to open the door manually. If it wont open manually then it is probably frozen to the ground. So get a bucket of hot water and pour it along the bottom of the door. You may have to do this a couple of times. Then try to open the door manually again. Once you can open it manually then you can reengage it to the automatic opener.
