Ever wanted to mix up your own indoor potting soil that plants will actually thrive in? Here's what we use!

The Happy Frog potting soil and both varieties of perlite come from our Danville Southern States and the orchid bark is available at Lowe's.

I pour the soil into this Tote for storage (and leave the lid loose or cracked open for about a week after getting a new bag to not trap moisture in the tote), and leave all the extras in their bags and mix what I need as I need it. As a general guide, most common indoor tropical plants will benefit from a 3 part soil/1 part perlite/1 part orchid bark mix. This ratio still allows for adequate drainage but isn't super chunky, and will perform well in average humidity levels indoors.

After a fresh repot, I just use plain water when watering for a couple months, and then resume adding fertilizer to my regular watering to support new growth. Make sure to look up the appropriate type and strength of fertilizer needed for your specific plant variety.

Just a peep at some plants we'll have at the Boyle County Farmers' Market this weekend.

A fresh selection of tropical houseplants, herbs, marigolds, and watermelon plants. We also still have some Amish paste tomato plants!

Catch us Saturday at Constitution Square and Sunday at Greenleaf Shopping Centre.

Tomorrow's market has been called off due to weather. We could be upset about it, but the plants are loving all this rain. 😅🥰

Due to inclement weather, tomorrow’s Boyle County Farmers’ Market has been canceled.

While we hate missing a market day, the safety of our vendors, patrons, volunteers, and staff always comes first. Thank you all for your understanding and continued support of local agriculture and small businesses.
