Thank you to everyone who came out to the Central Arkansas Library System’s Bringing Nature to Your Yard event! It was a phenomenal plant sale!! And thank you so very much to the Central Arkansas Master Naturalists volunteers who helped unload, set up and then pack up at the end…y’all made quick work of it and I so appreciate it!

The photos below were right after set up. It was so busy, I didn’t have time to take any other photos during the event. I only came home with a fraction of those plants!

Trumpet Honeysuckle (Lonicera sempervirens), also known as Coral Honeysuckle, has already been brightening Arkansas woodlands and fencerows this spring!

Its long, red tubular or trumpet-shaped flowers are perfectly suited for hummingbirds, which rely on this nectar-rich native honeysuckle vine as they migrate through the state in spring. Clusters of blooms emerge each spring just above the plant's distinctive pair of fused leaves that encircle the stem, a defining characteristic of Arkansas native honeysuckles.

Unlike the fragrant but highly invasive Japanese honeysuckle, Trumpet Honeysuckle is a native species that supports wildlife throughout the year. The vine is a larval host plant for the Spring Azure Butterfly (Celastrina ladon) and the Hummingbird Clearwing Moth (Hemaris thysbe). The plant's bright red berries , which ripen later in summer, are also a favorite of fruit‑eating birds, like the Purple Finch. Consider planting it in your pollinator garden as a native alternative to invasive honeysuckle!

Look for Trumpet Honeysuckle climbing along woodland edges, thickets and sunny openings nearly statewide. Its bright, red blooms are a welcome sign of spring and a valuable resource for early pollinators!

I want to share and echo Moonlit Heights Native Nursery appreciation post! Thank you Wild Ones - Ozark Chapter for the invite to be a part of this event and all the volunteers who assisted! And of course all the customers! The crowd was large and steady throughout the entire event…so many native plant enthusiasts!! It was a beautiful and great day!

We had a great plant sale yesterday with Wild Ones Ozark at GoatLab! Here is our haul (yes, we grow plants and buy plants).

Special thanks to GoatLab Brewery for hosting us! If your ever in the mood for artisan pizza and local brews, give them a visit. They have a really cool vibe going on!

A big thanks to our fellow nurseries: Bluestem Hollow, Ozark Roots, Pine Ridge Gardens, and Ozark Soul! Y’all help make this event so great and it’s always nice to catch up with you!

And thank you Becca, Pam, Patty, Camille, and Danny for helping! Y’all are the best!
