This is the opening, seen from below, to the “cavity” that will house the rolling screen and motor. Stucco will come around where the white lath is applied, then a “drop down” door wil be hinged on the soffit of the opening to provide a service access to the motor. If you look closely, you will see a simple electrical outlet inside the box which will give power to the motorized screen. There are three of these screens.

This is a two story porch addition. The lower level will have retractable screens in the large openings. The upper level is an open deck off of the master bedroom. Stucco application is in process! More pictures to follow...

Rebecca and Mike took a “product” field trip yesterday. Our first stop was Aamsco Lighting, a manufacturer of illuminated mirrors, located near Summerville. We specified two of their mirrors for a client in Virginia. They were excited to show us their capabilities and even more excited to customize to meet our specific needs. They asked for our input on a couple of their new products including a handicap accessible medicine cabinet inspired by a fishing tackle box (the shelves pull down to wheelchair height). Our next stop was Charleston for lunch with a residential elevator/lift company called Stiltz, that offers an innovative solution for both new and retrofit applications. Going to the source, as we call it, is so much more valuable than reading brochures or websites. We develop a personal relationship with the manufacturer which helps us deliver great projects for our clients, both homeowner and builder.

Having this 150 year old salvaged oak barn lumber crafted into patio tables for the outdoor patio, by furniture maker Jimmy Kerr, near Boone, NC.

Outdoor kitchen and covered patio is completed. Awaiting a decorative metal railing and gate. Nearly 8 months under construction, this family can enjoy the rest of the summer on the patio and look forward to cool fall evenings in front of the outdoor fireplace.

Progress post on the Old Homeplace Renovation in Bland County. The owners’ vision is to create a place for growing their family and continue the memories. This place has been in the family for many generations!

It's so cold outside but I'm thankful for an optimistic young builder that had the courage to get this foundation in just before the freezing temps and the holidays hit! 2018 is off to a great start.

I built these cabinets to match an existing kitchen. Six cabinets and a panelized "cover" (to the far right) to give an existing brick chimney a "built-in" look. We also removed all the doors and drawer fronts from the original cabinets, and refinished them so everything matches and looks new.
