Phase 1 Hazard Mitigation & Clearing: Complete. 🚜🌲

This week at the LesterDirect Workshop HQ, we finished the first phase of heavy lifting. All dead/dying hazard trees and legacy stumps have been ripped, grubbed, and staged in windrows to prep for the Grapple Truck haul-off.

Whether you need a surgical building pad or a full-lot cleared, we never operate blindly. At LesterDirect, we execute in strict, engineered phases. Right now, we are preserving the healthy canopy and holding off on our final "Structural Cut" until our Volusia County building permits are fully stamped.

But while we wait on paperwork, we don't stop working. Getting the hazards down, pulling the root balls, and separating the clean dirt with the screening bucket is where the real site prep starts.

Next up: We move from heavy iron back to precision engineering. Once the debris is hauled out, we will fire up the Moasure 3D Topo mapping tool to shoot the final elevations and lock in our engineered sub-grade for the building pad.

𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗛𝗤 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 (𝗣𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝟭) 🚧

At LesterDirect, we don’t believe in the "guess and bulldoze" method. Before a single track hit the dirt for our new 30x50 workshop, we engineered the site.

Using the Moasure 2 Pro 3D topographical tool combined with our in-house CAD expertise, we mapped the exact building footprint to the inch. By integrating existing property surveys into our digital models, we are able to execute precision site stakeouts entirely in-house—saving massive outside surveyor fees and guaranteeing accuracy.

The result? True targeted clearing. We establish the absolute minimum clearing zone required, ensuring we only remove the exact foliage necessary while protecting the surrounding pasture.

The price of doing business... a sheared Bob-Tach pin.

The falling tree limb from the other day's job packed enough of a punch to snap this hardened steel bolt clean off. It's a powerful reminder of the incredible forces we're dealing with out here.

Quick repair done and we're back to 100%. Just another day at the office.

The Challenge: How do you remove an entire tree right up against a fence line without leaving a stump... and without damaging the fence?

It takes the right plan and the right equipment.

For this tricky job, the first step was to use the stump bucket to break up and sever the root ball while the tree was still standing. This allows the entire tree, roots and all, to be pushed over, eliminating the need for stump grinding later.

The initial plan was to push it away from the fence, but the tree started leaning the wrong way. Adapting on the fly is key—we switched from pushing to pulling with chains, which gave us the precise control needed to bring it down exactly where we wanted it, safely away from the fence.

The result: No more tree, no stump, and one perfectly safe fence. Every job presents unique challenges, and having the experience to adapt is how we get it done right.
