Dynia Architects Dynia Architects is an architecture, planning, and interior design firm with offices in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and Denver, Colorado.

Established in 1993, Dynia Architects' goal is to provide innovative and sustainable design solutions combined with thorough, precise technical and administrative services. This commitment to the highest design standards is et by a talented, dedicated staff led by a Principal who guides every project from inception to completion. The result of this studio structure is evident in the work completed - award winning residential, commercial, and institutional architecture throughout the west. Recognizing that each project presents a unique set of challenges in response to the needs of a specific client, program, site, and budget, Dynia Architects approaches each task as an opportunity to create innovative and cohesive design solutions. Whether working with public or private clients, this discipline is essential from the earliest schematic phase throughout the development of the finished project and is seen in every level of architectural detail. Dynia Architects has been recognized with over 40 AIA design awards and has been widely published in books, magazines, digital media, and Stephen Dynia, FAIA has presented his work at design conferences nationally.

Introducing “Homage to a Drive-In Theater,” an art installation designed by our principal, Stephen Dynia, for our Jackson office courtyard.
Organized around a 9-square grid, this piece combines functional bleacher seating and steel posts to create a gathering space inspired by the classic drive-in theater, with our office projection wall as the focal point.
Over the years, our courtyard has hosted outdoor film screenings, office gatherings, and community events. The installation, which debuted earlier this month at our WMR event, makes it a more intentional place to gather, and we’re excited to continue hosting in the years ahead!

Originally built in 1976, the former Snow King Hotel & Resort has long been an icon of Jackson’s ski culture and a gathering place for visitors and locals alike. In partnership with Trailborn Hotels & Resorts and Vida Design, Dynia Architects helped transform this beloved property into Trailborn Jackson Hole.
By stripping away decades of renovations, the team exposed the original timber structure, expressive rooflines, and distinctive ’70s ski chalet architecture. Warm natural materials, retro-inspired details, and local references celebrate the history and mountain culture that define Jackson Hole.
The renovation reimagined the hotel’s social heart with Old Timer restaurant, the new Mountainside Bar & Café, Alley Oop game room, refreshed lobby spaces, and an improved pool deck, all designed to bring travelers and locals together.

For over 30 years, Dynia Architects has been designing in Jackson Hole, making this project especially meaningful for our team!

Last week we welcomed attendees of the WMR AIA Conference to our Jackson office for a wonderful evening of desserts, drinks, and great conversation. Our outdoor art installation, an ode to the classic drive-in theater, also made it’s debut.

Thank you to all who came out and shared our space with us!

We are excited to share that Stephen Dynia is featured in New View: A Curated Visual Gallery: Twenty Magnificent Homes by Mountain West Architects. Stephen's section showcases Dynia Architects' River Channel House, a home designed to feel "like a living extension of the landscape." The piece highlights how the rooms of River Channel are oriented to connect with the Snake River, surrounding cottonwoods, and Tetons beyond.

Thank you for including our work, Beth Buckley!

Meet Ruth - our newest designer at Dynia! She holds a Master of Architecture and Bachelor of Design in Architecture from the University of Florida where she taught undergraduate studios. Her graduate studio work went on to earn both the 2026 AIA Florida Honor Award and Citation Award. Ruth made her way to Denver after graduating and joined Dynia Architects this past July. When she's not working, Ruth enjoys printmaking, pattern making, and hiking trails that leave her out of breath.

Originally built in 1891, the Western Hotel is considered Colorado’s oldest continually operating hotel, located in Ouray, CO. Dynia Architects completed the renovation of this historic landmark in 2023 and we are excited to announce we will be filming a behind-the-scenes look with CBS News' "Hotels ByDesign" this October.

As a remnant of Ouray’s mining past, the re-imagined property blends contemporary and historic architectural elements, preserving features like the original wallpaper, tin ceilings, and a 132-year-old carved wooden saloon bar. The project earned state historic recognition and a federal National Park Service grant.

Stay tuned for more information about the "Hotels ByDesign" special!

Quarry Residence

Located high above a limestone quarry, this home draws on the challenges of the site – rocky outcrops, sheer cliffs, and towering pines – weaving them into an arrival sequence of geology and nature that culminates in the residence, perched 1,000 feet above the canyon floor.
An engineered series of ponds, rivulets, and waterfalls starts in the landscape and winds its way to and through the house, leading guests from the entry towards the cantilevered living room with a panoramic view of the valley beyond.
