🎶🏡Between tours, Nathaniel Rateliff established roots near Denver, transforming a neglected property into a character-filled home for music, cooking, and community.

The renovation balances restraint and personality – a house shaped as much by feeling as by form. ✨🎶

✨ Meet Emily ✨
Emily founded Neoera in 2013 with a simple idea: architecture should be collaborative, transparent, and built around people. She’s known for distilling complex problems into elegant, creative solutions.

When she’s not designing, you’ll find her traveling, making music, or spending time with family and friends–experiences that continually shape her human-centered approach to architecture.

🎙️📖Designing for the rhythm of storytelling.

We collaborated with Denver Westword and Voice Media Group to create a flexible, collaborative headquarters rooted in the character of the historic Dodge Building. 🏛️🎨

From preserved architectural details to vibrant murals by local artists, the space reflects Westword’s connection to Denver’s art scene while supporting how teams move between collaboration, focus, and creativity every day. ✨🤝

🌊🏡Perched above Lake Michigan, H20 residence proves that limitations don’t have to limit possibility.
A steep, regulated site. A narrow footprint. A client who wants to age in place.

Instead of pushing against these constraints, our design leaned in, letting land, law, and life shape the architecture. The result is a home that rises vertically to capture light and water, tucks daily living onto a single, step-free level, and creates moments of quiet. ✨🌿

We’re excited to introduce Insights ✨ — a new series sharing ideas, observations, and perspectives shaping the way we design, from emerging trends to the thinking behind the work.

Each year, we choose a single word to guide how we show up. After a year rooted in abundance 🌱, and as we enter our 12th year in business, our word for 2026 is focus. 🎯

For us, focus means clarity over noise, intention over reaction, and carrying each project thoughtfully from vision through ex*****on ✏️→🏗️.

What’s the word defining your 2026? 💬

Today we celebrated the opening of Björn’s Colorado Honey at Denver International Airport! 🍯🐝

Inspired by Björn’s Scandinavian roots, we used warm wood tones, custom botanical illustrations, and a bold yellow feature wall and ceiling to create a calm, welcoming, and nature-connected environment for travelers. 😌

It’s been a whole year since Paul came on board and we still haven’t officially welcomed him on IG. So…welcome to Paul Hermann! Paul joins us from New Zealand and is now well-acquainted with the imperial system. Not only is Paul a talented designer, he excels in the curating of sourdough baked items and providing us with endless entertainment by mentioning terms like “niggly” and “sweetas”. So happy to have you, Paul! It’s been a quick year!!

Our newest teammate, Paul, giving us a “breakfast and learn” about bagel making in Colorado. Paul is from New Zealand and is adapting to bread making at altitude. His jalapeño cheddar bagels were to die for!

Please welcome Kelsey Matteson to our team! She’s actually been at Neoera for some time, but finally getting around to an official welcome.

Kelsey is a ray of sunshine. She is versatile architectural designer who is a welcome presence on every project team. She is curious, creative, and excels in seeing the big picture of a project, even while drawing the finest of details. Kelsey is a team player and is highly skilled in completing large drawing sets, while leading an in-house team of designers. She is a multi-faceted designer, working on residential, office, grocery, retail, and university projects during her tenure in architecture.

Kelsey hails from Austin, where she earned her Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Texas. She also studied Engineering, French, Art, and Dance, and is always looking to expand her mind and unlock more creativity. Kelsey is an active member of the community, and she loves to make people laugh with her local improv comedy team. When she isn’t working, she is out and exploring new trails, restaurants, and museums, or home and trying out new crafts with the help of her two cats, Fig and Pepper.
