Monsoon season has arrived!! Yay!! But that also means that the w**ds are getting water too! I helped a client clean up her flower bed for Fall, removing spurge (with gloves!!!), bindw**d, grasses and other icky stuff. Once the flower beds were all clean, I planted a couple pretty mums from Fossil Creek Nursery and added some mulch for some w**d protection and a winter blanket. It was so hot and muggy, but I feel it in my bones that Fall is coming!!

Back to school cleanup for this garden! Time flies fast and this garden didn't stop this summer. They say the first year they sleep the second year they creep and in the third year they leap, but this garden leaped in about 16 months! Trimmed back all the penstemon, Mexican top hats, and while wrangling these 3 grass that had flopped and grown together, my client discovered a baby bunny!! So we tried to make it a little bunny condo out of the grasses bound together so they won't flop again. Once it gets a little cooler, we'll dig up and transplant some of these perennials to other locations in the garden so everyone can stretch out!

I love Northern Colorado.. the pockets between cities are still mostly agriculture and the fields sure make for some pretty morning views. I haven't seen fog in so long I thought my mind was playing tricks on me!

I like to have fun while I get it done! Spent the morning on the farm digging the grass out of this flower bed.. I put a chunk on my head and my client was cracking up.. she grabbed my phone and we had an impromptu photo session.. oh yeah and I slayed this flowerbed. Look how nice it looks now!!

The Garden Marathon 🌱

I get it!! The gardens are a little less glorious in these last days of summer. This has been a weird, hot, dry summer, and while some of our plants are thriving, the w**ds seem to be absolutely loving it. 😂

But gardening is a marathon, not a race. And this time of year is actually a great opportunity to slow down and take a good look at what’s working (and what isn’t.)

🌱 What plants are thriving?
🌱 What plants are struggling?
🌱 What could be moved, replaced, or given a little more support next season?

And let’s not forget about those w**ds…because they definitely won’t forget about you. 😆

If w**ds are left sitting in your garden beds through fall and winter, they get a front-row seat for next spring. Many will drop seeds, spread, and come back ready to make your life even harder when the growing season starts again.

So let’s work together to keep your garden fit, healthy, and strong through the rest of summer and into fall—and tell those w**ds to take a hike! 👋🌿

It's been brutal the last couple of weeks, relentless heat even at 6 am, smoky days.. but the sunrise drives to clients sure are pretty?! Trying to find some lemonade from these lemons in the long hot days of summer.. holler if you know any kids selling lemonade. I love to support small business owners.
