I've been thinking about family a lot lately. Knowledge and traditions passed down from generation to generation. My Grandma Ruth was one of my most favorite people ever. She was stubborn and sassy and sweet and incredibly kind. She was a tough cookie and she made the best oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. When I was little she was the one who watched out for me. We would garden in the morning before it got too hot "chasing shade" as she called it, she showed me how to trim Iris and Lilacs and so much more. After gardening we would go take a nap and then have lunch. I was so little and didn't remember a lot of things about my grandma but some things come back to me like instinct. Last year my Uncle (the best cardboard collector in all the land) loaned me his trailer. I named the trailer Ruthie after my Grandma. My Uncle decided I needed the trailer more than him so we just switched over all the paperwork. My custom license plate came in the mail today. When I filled out the application they wouldn't tell me if I would get my first choice for a custom plate... and I did. I was so happy and kinda proud attaching the plate to the trailer. I bet my Grandma is too.
