Some projects just stick with you — the kind that remind us why we love designing homes in the first place. ✨

As we looked back on the past 5 years, these are the top five projects. Either a popular design, or a fun custom design, each project had its own challenges, creativity, and clients who trusted us to help bring their vision to life.

• Bessey – A timeless classic that sports 4 bedrooms and a beautiful vaulted living space, perfect for entertaining.

• Bessey 2.0 – The Bessey reimagined and scaled down for the more cost conscious buyer with a 3 bedroom a pocket office as well as a dedicated dining room off the vaulted living room.

• Willow – Full of character and intentional details. A home perfect for the large family looking for space for everyone. With a master on the main and bedrooms upstairs and down - it is perfect for the family with preteens and teenagers.

• Custom – A one-of-a-kind home designed completely around the client’s lifestyle. This was a fun country living design currently under construction. We can’t wait to see it completed!

• Hoover – This has been our most popular plan. Appealing to the family with its dedicated kids wing and large living and kitchen. This has a kitchen and pantry to die for!

Every home tells a story, and we’re grateful to play a small role in helping families create spaces where life happens.

This month we are celebrating 5 years in business! 🎉

What started as a leap of faith and a love for thoughtful residential design has grown into something I’m incredibly proud of. Over the past five years, I’ve had the honor of helping amazing clients bring their homes from ideas on paper to spaces filled with life and memories.

From first sketches to final plans, every project has been a collaboration built on trust, creativity, and vision. I’m so grateful for the homeowners, builders, and partners who have supported this journey — your referrals, encouragement, and loyalty mean everything.

As I look back on the homes we’ve designed, I’m filled with gratitude. And as I look ahead, I’m excited for the new projects, fresh ideas, and dream homes still to come.

Hi, my name is Ashley Pudenz, the owner of AP Home Designs! I’m a Midwest girl who has had a fascination with home design from a young age, my idea of a fun Sunday afternoon would be to cruise around town with my Dad checking out the open houses. My love for home design only grew in college as I pursued a degree in Interior Design at Iowa State University.

If you’re new here or been around for a while AP Home Designs is all about helping you on your building journey by bringing your vision and dreams to life on paper. I gained experience working for one of the largest local home builder’s in the area designing and completing construction documents. My experience and passion for my work there led me to start AP Home Designs almost 5 years ago! AP Home Designs has completed over 230 projects in that time ranging from an 800 sq ft cabin to a 6000 sq ft barndominium for clients all over the country. I have experience in your traditional stick frame construction as well as barndominium or pole barn construction. I feel so fortunate to be living out one of my dream jobs with the work I do with AP Home Designs.

However, AP Home Designs isn’t my only passion, my true dream job is at home where I’m a mother to 4 beautiful daughters and wife to my college sweetheart. On weekends you’ll find us hitting up the best parks in town, eating at the local ice cream shops, and trying to get some sleep at night.
