Replacing the anode rod in a water heater before it fails can slow down corrosion inside the tank and significantly extend the life of the water heater, sometimes even doubling it.

When the owners moved into this 1800 SF home (their first), the 2nd floor bathroom looked dated but functional. Only after they moved in did they notice that the tile in front of the bath tub was loose (from years of mositure infiltration underneath), and upon stepping on it with a bit more pressure, it cracked underfoot. After that, the floor had to be removed, as it posed a life safety concern. Soon after the tile incident, the refinished tub started pealing near the drain, revealing the original purple tub, circa 1970 most likely. With two major and costly repairs the owners decided to go ahead with a total bath overhaul, instead of just a patch job, as changing the tub would result in having to change the shower surround as well. The new bathroom took a more ergonomic design, with the movement of the toilet and linen closet, so it could be accessed without having to close the bathroom door. Modern finishes where utilized with porcelin tile on the shower surround and floor, and glass and travertine mosaic tile behind the vanity. All new Grohe™ Talia fixtures in starlight® chrome were installed, and the walls painted with a fresh coat of Benjamin Moore™ Aura® brand paint for bathrooms in Valley Forge Tan.
