Here are some pics of what’s growing out in the garden. Since I scaled back the flowers, I decided to attempt to grow some sugar snap peas for Addy, we shall see how that goes. On the flower front, the first blooming peony, Silver Years seems to have some nice buds on it, and the ranunculus are looking pretty healthy.

It’s been quite some time people! As a lot of you know, I went back to the classroom bc there was an emergency need, and I’ve stayed on, so this really limits my growing time, but I can’t help myself. A limited number of tulip bouquets have been gifted out, and I have been able to enjoy some blooms in my own house! But stay tuned for the peonies, they are looking great and will be for sale in May. The girls need some money in the Sloby fund, iykyk.

Do you need a pick-me-up? A neighbor or friend? I have 2 bouquets that I am giving away, yes for free. But you need to come get them asap. One is bigger, one smaller. They can go to the same person as long you are sharing the love, keep one, give one, give 2, not keeping them all for yourself.

Summer so far has been a whirlwind! Gardening has been an absolute challenge, but not as big as completing a swim meet. The heat, humidity and storms have made it so hard, and every time I go out I’m attacked by mosquitos 🤬

I have been able to get out a few bouquets, but I’ve been really focused on enjoying my native pollinator gardens that are teaming with all kinds of things. Saw my first monarch this week, a praying mantis hitched a ride on some flowers I cut, and a squirrel was eating a sunflower head I left for the birds. And maybe the biggest surprise was seeing a heron in our backyard.

If you’d like to start a pollinator garden let me know, and I’m happy to share ideas and maybe even some plants.

Finally got out in the garden for literally a hot second before having to go to a rainy swim meet, and I got to see this beauty!!!!!! I believe it is a hummingbird moth, so happy someone is enjoying the flowers.

This is from the PA Department of Heath, please be careful out there. I was hoping to clean up the garden this week and plant some seeds, but it’s not worth the risk. On Saturday, I was doing some weeding for an hour and felt pretty sick. It is wayyyyyyy too hot out, the upcoming days will be better. Please stay as cool as you can!

As a side note, I don’t know how in the heck I used to lay out in the sun in my 20s, what was I thinking!

Ugh, apparently it’s been 20 days since I’ve posted something! Life has been a bit hectic these days, and flowers have taken a backseat to other priorities.

It’s not a complicated story, one of our local middle school desperately needed a French teacher in late winter so I stepped in. But if you know anything about teaching, it’s an all in kind of job. With kids, multiple sports, a husband who works crazy hours until Memorial Day, and volunteer commitments, I wasn’t able to get seeds in the ground, started in the right time frame or transition out some of the other things that are more early spring items.

So here we are. It’s disappointing, but it’s life. There will be flowers, but the timing won’t be what I had hoped. As with teaching these past 3 months, I am trying to give myself some grace, and do the best I can with the circumstances.

On a positive note, I am really enjoying some of my house beds and the hell patch that I turned into more native/pollinator gardens.

It’s dance recital season, break a leg to all the dancers out there 🩰 I try to give the little people their favorite colors if I can, blue is always a challenge, but I’m working on for next year, or later this summer.

Wow, it’s been a busy few days, thank you all for keeping me busy! If anyone would like some flowers for Memorial Day or the week give me a holler, there are still some peonies, and I cut two buckets of ranunculus tonight.

And if you’re ever wondering hmmmm what is Katie going to do with that flower money, well it gets dumped right back into Doylestown. Addy was talking about what dance classes she wants to take in the fall and it will fund the snack stand purchases at all our swim meets.

Grab your peonies while they are here, I am expecting they will be sold old by the end of the weekend. Give me a text or message!

Also flash sale on some reddish and orangish ranunculus, $5 for a big handful. There were some mystery corms and there are too many red ones.
