Spring Fling at Heirloom Acres was full of energy, and our NWTN Master Gardeners were right in the heart of it. From plant problems to “what should I grow next,” our Ask a Master Gardener booth stayed busy with great conversations and curious gardeners. We loved connecting with our community, sharing research‑based advice, and talking about the mission behind the Master Gardener program. Thank you to everyone who stopped by and spent part of their day with us!

We’ve officially wrapped up our 2026 Master Gardener Intern Class! 🌱

It’s been a wonderful journey of learning, growth, and hands-on experiences. We’re so proud of this group and all the knowledge they’ve gained along the way.

A special thank you to our final two speakers who helped us finish strong:

Fay Ott, one of our very own Master Gardeners, shared her knowledge on starting seeds and gave participants practical tips they can take home and use right away.

Dr. Bob Hathcock with the Northwest Tennessee Beekeepers Association taught us all about the importance of pollinators and even gave us the opportunity to get up close with the bee hives on UTM’s campus—an unforgettable experience! 🐝

Thank you again to all of our speakers and participants who made this program such a success!

We had such a fun and full day yesterday at the Western Region Master Gardener Intern Workshop in Jackson! 🌱

Our group showed up strong with 6 interns and 1 Master Gardener volunteer attending alongside their Master Gardener Coordinator. The day was packed with hands-on activities- everything from propagation to grafting- and lots of great learning along the way. We learned about IPM and had a tour of the UT Gardens facilities including their gardens, greenhouses, and arboretum.

Huge thanks to the county agents, Master Gardener volunteers, and Celeste Scott (our regional horticulture specialist) who led sessions and shared their knowledge with us. We came home tired, but inspired and excited to keep growing! 💚

We love Mr. Larry! Thank you for letting us come to your vineyard!!

We love Mr. Larry! Thank you for letting us come to your vineyard!!

Great visit with the Master Gardeners this week on a gorgeous evening with a full moon rising. They were delightful...and I think they liked the wine tasting a bit more than learning about grapevines. They're now big, big fans of Hey Paula, Stan's Harmony and Crimson Cab.
Grab some for yourself today ahead of Saturday's rain...and we'll definitely have slushies on this warm afternoon...3-7 pm. I look forward to seeing you.

Thank you to the UTM College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences and Dr. Bethany Wolters for hosting our Week 3 session of the NWTN Master Gardener Intern Training! 🌱

Interns learned all about soil and how soil health impacts plant growth, environmental quality, and our everyday lives. We appreciate the hands-on learning opportunities and partnerships that help prepare our future Master Gardeners to serve their communities!
